Frozen Planet II (2022–2023)

Disappointing and too much death
4 March 2023
We all know about the food chain. We all know cute, cuddly, baby animals are often easy prey. We all know many animals will not make it to old age. But why show us repeatedly in every episode?! Literally, every new animal that appears on screen is either a predator about to kill or prey about to die. That narrative got very old, very fast.

The camera work is fantastic but that's the only positive thing. I did not learn much at all in the episodes I watched and, isn't that the point of these?

It would also be beneficial to not just hear about how we are destroying the planet (we know), but to show the ways conservation groups are trying to stop/reverse the effects and offer suggestions on how the average viewer can help/get involved.

Incredibly Disappointing
9 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love the Beatles and was so excited to see this (finally). It started off well but the love story completely detracted from this interesting concept. The Beatles story itself wasn't fleshed out well enough-nothing reached further than surface level. Example-the scene with John Lennon. Why wasn't that longer with more exploration into John's past and how he never ended up creating the Beatles with the 3 others? I assumed the point of this film was to explore what a world without their music would be like but instead it seems the purpose of this film was realizing a childhood love? I wouldn't bother watching and wasting your time.

Just awful

Warning: Spoilers
Season 2 is a train-wreck. Dana Sue has become exceptionally unlikeable and hypocritical. Suddenly Coach Cal has anger issues?! The actor playing Jackson is totally cringeworthy. There is no true character development and the "drama" that is causing so many characters to act differently is incredibly mundane and does not warrant their drastic change in attitude (i.e. Kyle). The plot is very slow and I found myself skipping ahead because many scenes are boring.

The writing is atrocious. People do not converse with each other like this. The whimsical sayings and spewing of Bible verses will make you roll your eyes. I am not a Southerner but I have visited and lived there. This is generally not what it's like.

And let's be honest, in real life there is no way Noreen would even talk to Maddie or would choose to remain in such a small town.

Started Great...

Warning: Spoilers
First few episodes were great. The main character goes through a very difficult struggle, and she was definitely a victim of DV. You also see the appalling way our government offers social services. However, it becomes quickly apparent how selfish, naive, and irresponsible she is. Honestly, by episode 7 I am pissed off at her. Most of the "setbacks" are her own fault. I don't know why the writers did this to her. It makes her story much less intriguing.

Narrator killed it for me
25 September 2021
This was a pretty good look into the lives and beginnings of individual species. However, the narrator, Tracee Ellis Ross, has a tone geared towards children. Too sweet and lovey dovey for the adult viewer. Having seen many animal documentaries, I think Nat Geo could have gotten a better voice to narrate. It got a little annoying to listen to after a while. Overall, a pretty good series, otherwise.

Pointless

This documentary was terrible. I was hoping to learn more about what happened from students who were directly affected, but these students can probably be classified as those present but least affected. They did not know anything about the shooters, did not lose any friends to the shooting, nor did they have any encounter with the shooters. I don't know what the point of this was. There was no climax to this narrative. I did a research project on school shootings back when I was in HS (2005) and was hoping to gain even more insight all these years later. Waste of my time.
