Janghwa, Hongryeon (2003)
Oh how stupid
I can't believe I just wasted the time to watch this movie. The longer into it I got, the more I kept saying to myself "there better be a really good ending to tie all this together." Alas, there was none.
The dialog, if translated in the subtitles correctly, made little sense most of the time. Large portions of the film were shot in almost total darkness so you couldn't even see who or what was doing what. Many plot holes were left totally unexplained.
What made the film truly awful, though, was the way she kept waking up from dreams. It was like, this is reality, oh no wait that part was a dream, this is real, no wait, that was a dream too, or maybe it was just her imagination, or who knows what. None of it made any sense.
Some people seem to give high ratings to movies like this, maybe for their eclectic or mysterious qualities, and praise them as works of genius. I, however, find them utterly stupid. As always, your mileage may vary.
Magical Maestro (1952)
outstanding
One of the best gags of the toon, IMHO, is the stray fleck on the film. We've all seen them in old films, but nobody would ever expect what happens with this one!
Elmer's Candid Camera (1940)
prototype characters
The Elmer character is different from the one we are more familiar with from the toons of the late 40's and 50's. The rabbit character is a prototype of Bugs Bunny. Interestingly, the rabbit has a laugh similar to Woody Woodpecker's at one point.
