Baekilui Nanggoonnim (2018)
Enjoyable
An entertaining series with lots of funny moments. The plot is a bit depressing at time & I don't know about the accuracy of the historical aspects, but parts seem a bit far-fetched, with elements of modern twists.
A solid 8 out of 10 stars for entertainment factor of the series. The leads worked well together & are endearing, while the supporting cast were great. The costumes & sets looked good. 2 stars off for the sometimes drawn out political conversations & the silliness.
It's not a very long series, taking around 16.5 hours to complete, which is a plus as the plot moves along with a good pace.
Recommended for those who like period dramas & romantic comedies. An enjoyable show overall.
Ma-i On-li Leo-beu-song (2017)
Hilarious!
One seriously hilarious K-drama! Although it is a bit predictable at times & the editing can be cheesy, the acting is good & storyline is easy to follow.
Both leads have a good chemistry together & the supporting cast is believable & likeable. The villain very nearly steals the show!
I give it 9 stars out of 10, 1 star off for the rather abrupt ending & constant rewinding throughout the show.
Overall, a very easy series to binge watch which can be completed within 10 hours or less. A great, thoroughly entertaining drama series with a memorable soundtrack & theme songs.
Recommended for those who enjoy something light & fluffy.
Conspiracy Theory (1997)
Memorable!
A great film! A good mix of fun and suspense. The best part is the awesome soundtrack. It makes you want to dance along. The lead performances were both well done & believable.
My favourite scene is when Jerry (Mel) smacks the cockroach with a spatula & says it's disgusting, but hangs the spatula straight back on the hook! Noooo! That's NOT disgusting.
The main sad aspect is that this film hints how people with psychological problems are sometimes treated. We don't always know what people have been through & how they got that way. Everyone has a story. Maybe we can be better listeners. Maybe we can help.
A memorable film & thoroughly enjoyable. I've reserved 1 star for the length of the film. It could be slightly shorter. Certainly a well recommended watch!
What Dreams May Come (1998)
Powerful
A great movie! From an atheist's point of view, this story has some beautiful, powerful visual imagery & makes you think. Michael Kamen's score & the theme music are both memorable & touching as well.
Yes, soul mates, rebirth etc, are romantic notions, but that's not the take home message. Even if there's no heaven, you will ask yourself what's your legacy?
This film is a gem. It makes you think about our humanity, relationships & kindness. It makes you realise since we only spend a fraction of time on earth, we should make the most of it & be our authentic selves. Make a difference.
Perhaps it's just a dream, an artist's interpretation, but this film sure sends a powerful message.
I've really enjoyed it & own the DVD. I'm reserving 1 star for the bad hairdos. However, this movie definitely deserved the visual effects Academy award overall. Well done!
