Animal (2023)
The worst movie in the history of Indian cinema! Filth, gore, arrogance and everything you will not teach your kids
How can someone ever call this a movie?? It's such a pity that the kind of movies that are getting into the limelight are violent trash like this one, Salaar and more. Garbage is the only word for such movies. The movie lacks a proper script, lacks emotion, sense, is filled with misogyny, filled with the thought that if you arre rich you can have anything, the list is endless. If you really want to watch good movies, I suggest going and watching Malayalam movies. Watch a movie called, Kannur Squad or Neru or watch a Kannada movie called Kaatera. Simple movies made on shoestring budgets with such powerful messages and terrific stories and acting.
It's so sad to see Bollywood creating absolute garbage. It's just show business like the IPL. Throw money, have some women dance with limited clothing or with nothing at all, have some love scenes, kill a few people, movie over. And on the other hand, we say that India has so much culture in our art forms..
To summarize here is my reaction to Animal: Yuck, Ewww, (throwing up sounds)
Adipurush (2023)
Adipurush = Bahubali Parody + Duke 3D + Planet of the Apes + Avengers + some rubbish
Why does someone have to spend 600 cr to make such a disaster?? And how in God's name did it make 350cr at the box office?
Adipurush has no role in this movie except for that motivational speech before the fight. From the time the dude went underwater in the first scene to when he tried to kill Ravana, all his duties were being outsourced. Next Janaki.. Holy smokes, she's got no role in the movie apart from sitting under the cherry blossom tree! Hanuman aka Bajrang is the main character of the film. He's there everywhere. Rama's brother Bharata brought the soldiers of Ayodhya to help Rama. Where is he in this movie??
And Ravana = Thanos + Thor!!
I am surprised there was no item song in the movie. They should have brought in Shurpanaka to do an item song, that would have been the cherry on the cake!!
My God, I find it difficult to believe that the cast and crew spends ridiculous amounts of money to go study theater and then make a fool of those institutions!!
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023)
I wonder what they all smoked while making this movie
Rubbish movie that thanks to Einthusan I could watch in 15 mins! I really want to know what they were smoking. Salman Khan, I can understand, only acts in junk movies. Pooja Hegde has no talent, which is also known. But Venkatesh? How on earth did he agree to act in such a movie?? Beats me.. Such a wasted movie and after all this, the movie made 182Cr?? What are people smoking?? I wonder when Bollywood will stop making these kind of junk movies. In front of this movie, even movies like Rajnikanth's Linga or Vijay's Beast look like Christopher Nolan movies! What a terrible mistake I did by wasting 15 mins of my precious time.
Bosch (2014)
One of the best shows ever!
Michael Connelly has always been regarded as one of the best authors and Bosch is another example of his class. Terrific stories that bring out every human emotion to the fullest. And every single character balances everyone else. Amazing cast selection. After 6 seasons, I cannot find a single reason to criticize this show and I am as glued to the screen as s01e01. When is S07 coming out??
Officer (2018)
Tiger Zinda Hai was better than this and I rated it 1 on 10
This has got to be the worst ever movie made in the history of cinema. Absolutely rubbish. RGV has lost it and so has Nagarjuna. I am feeling guilty that I spent 1 hour on this garbage.
Dangal (2016)
One of the best movies in World Cinema, hope like the story of the Phogats, Aamir brings India her first Oscar!!
Straight 10/10. Masterclass!
There is something different in the type of movies that Aamir Khan acts in or directs. Before watching the movie and after, you come back and start reading more about the messages that is conveyed. That is so unlike any Shah Rukh or Salman Khan movie. the only other person that is worthy of this kind of action from the viewer's behalf is Farhan Akhtar.
Dangal is a celebration of womanhood and is an inspiration to not just women but also a lesson to men to never think less of the capabilities of a woman!
Aamir is just exceptional, the lengths to which he goes to be an actor and convey a message is just incredible. but that's why there is only one of Aamir Khan. That being said, I don't want to take away the class of the younger Geeta and Babita and the older Geeta and Babita. The kind of training that has been put in my them is incredible. Good acting is when you go the distance to be the character that you are representing and not act for the sake of a role! Hats off to Nitesh Tiwari for making such a movie that celebrates womanhood! Aparshakthi Khurana brings in the comedy.
Hats off to the real life Mahavir Singh Phogat to have had the vision to empower his children, and think differently and uplift the spirits of women by doing what he did with his family. the reason why this is of importance is that in places like Haryana, women still get discriminated, even after India having had a woman Prime Minister and President!
What I really loved too is 2 other things in the movie..
1) the movie is not all serious. There is a lot of humor in a classic, non-offensive style which tells a story about victory in a humorous way. this has become extremely rare. 2) the songs show scenes of prep or training in the movie. this has become a great way to keep the audience fixed to their seat, so they don't just listen to the song and look around or look at their phones.
I hope that this movie gets an Oscar! if Slumdog millionaire can, I don't see why Dangal cannot!
Saivam (2014)
Exceptional movie. Simple story, brilliant casting and direction! Watch with your entire family
I usually don't like family dramas. I like some edge-of-the-seat thrills. Saivam is an exception. I was at the edge of my seat even though it is a family entertainer.
The director has done a wonderful job with the Cast and has worked very meticulously to harness each person's talent. Sara Arjun steals the show all the way. This movie has subtle social messages all through. The director has shown very nice messages like the innocence of child bringing down tensions in the home or innocence of a child uniting the family. Concepts such as these are lost in today's cinema. Sometimes kids know more than adults, but adults don't let their egos down and listen to them. This movie shows instances of that concept through a child's innocence. The film also touches on certain practices, particularly around stone-age religious practices that still dwells in many places in South India.
The 3 best scenes in the movie that I liked 1) When Tamizh saves face for the childless couple in front of the lady's classmate: Beautiful direction. A classic difference between a happy movie and a sad one. 2) When Tamizh asks her uncle what's wrong if Senthil and Abhirami get to know each other. Several families move apart for the smallest and silliest of reasons as was this case. But a kid's commonsense turns on the light bulb in the parent's mind. 3) When everyone get to know that Paapa is in the house and they still cover up. Beautiful portrayal of the family coming back together again.
Every single actor plays an important role in this movie. Every person is utilized to the fullest and to the max that the role could ask for. Exceptional, I have not seen too many movies where each character is utilized so well. The stand out characters are Tamizh, Kathiresan, Saravanan.
the movie took me from my childhood days, all across my teens into my being and adult and married with a family. Such a happy movie.
Vedalam (2015)
One of the worst Tamil movies in recent times! Loud, noisy, wasted talent! Just Terrible!
Vedalam has to absolutely be in the top 5 Worst Tamil movies in the last 5 years. After acting in good movies like Mankatha, Veeram, Arrambam and Yenai Arindhaal, Ajith has absolutely let his fans down. The only reaction my family and myself had watching this movie was, "Can you give me that balm for the headache". Sruthi Hassan has become the new Samantha of Tamil movies. A heroine for the heck of it. Here are some of the reasons why I rated this movie as awful The villains are too noisy, Unnecessary shooting and shouting scenes Wasted Talent: Thambi Ramaiah is such a fabulous actor. His role was totally wasted. Ashwin has great talent, again wasted. Sruthi Hassan - wasted, Kovai Sarala-wasted Weak Storyline: The story is absolutely trash Terrible Songs, bad background score, poor direction.
The only saving grace is kind of okay, natural acting of Lakshmi Menon Stay away even if you are an Ajith fan!
Baby (2015)
Decent movie, has rush moments and calming ones, definitely worth a watch
8.5/10
I have never been a great fan of Akshay Kumar, probably because he likes to do a lot of 'mass' roles although he is quite talented enough to do character roles. In this movie he has really done a good job.
Neeraj Pandey has substance in the script. His scripts have a way of delivering the unexpected. There are many scenes in the movie where you expect something to happen based on many substandard films in the past and then something else happens that brings a wry smile to your face. Sadly such scripts are rare and people waste their money on trash movies like Chennai Express and Happy New Year. Anyways, its quite refreshing to see scenes like Taapsee overpowering Wasim/Abdul when the person watching would probably expect it to be the other way.
Pandey has chosen his characters well and given them apt roles even if it is short-lived. For example Murali Joshi & Anupam Kher have short roles, but they are very well utilized. One of The biggest plus points of the movie in my opinion is that there are no songs because of which you find yourself stuck to your chair. Refreshing to see Pakistani actors in the movie. Danny who is always a brilliant actor has done a great job. The movie has its negatives, but the positives overpower the negatives and make it entertaining and a must watch.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
One of the best movies ever! Kudos to Farhan, he sets the screen on fire
Farhan Akhtar is one of the best 3 actors in Indian cinema today. And no Shah Rukh Khan does not feature in the top 3, he probably features in the top 50. Anyways, BMB is one of the best made biopics in Indian cinema and every actor/actress have given it their everything and beyond. Usually movies that have a heavyweight actors and actresses seldom do well. From the first scene till the last, the natural acting of Farhan, Pawan Malhotra, Prakash Raj, Divya Dutta Art Malik, Yograj Singh and Sonam Kapoor (who hardly has any role) will keep you glued to your seat. Hats off to the real Milkha Singh, for having endured life and for staying true to his passion. The direction, story, cinematography and screenplay are all brilliant. Shankar Ehsan Loy have delivered awesome music. Overall a brilliant movie, I think actors who act for the heck of it or just be in the news, should take a cue from this movie. 10/10 despite some factual errors in the movie.
PK (2014)
Rajkumar Hirani & Aamir have scored yet another perfect 10!
Take a bow, Rajkumar Hirani and team, Pk is nothing short of brilliant. Just a handful of characters, with each character utilized to the fullest, humor where it matters, love through music and the sheer brilliance of Aamir Khan. You can never have an Aamir Khan movie in recent times without a message. Good to see Sanjay Dutt and Saurabh Shukla in their respective roles, they did a fabulous job. Anushka and Sushant deserve credit for a job well done. The issues discussed are rarely reflected on in our busy lives, glad to see it portrayed so well in a movie. SRK and all those media hungry actors should watch this movie and learn from it. PK is the new benchmark in Indian cinema. This is what a movie should be like. Good storytelling has become a rarity. The recipe of the movie is such that it has all the ingredients to make you laugh, tap your feet and cry. 10/10 from the first minute to the last.
Kick (2014)
An extremely poor remake of a good movie
This is one of the worst movies ever made in Hindi cinema. I could not watch for more than half hour. Probably one of the worst investments of half hour of my time. I have seen the original movie in Telugu and really liked it and found it to be a very different kind of movie. The director thinks he can get away with any crap just because Salman is there. I am shocked to see the collection numbers for this film. it just shows that people have forgotten what it is to enjoy good cinema. Jacqueline Fernandez is probably the worst replacement for Ileana (in Telugu) and Randeep Hooda is also a horrible replacement for Shaam. The portrayal of Salman Khan's role is extremely sad, with a lack of real humor. The music is below average. Overall this movie is not even worth the time invested into writing this review. Stay away if you want to maintain a sane mind!
Mirchi (2013)
A decent movie, quite an old storyline with some twists
I would give a 7.5. It is a good movie for a first time director. It certainly does have some action sequences that go overboard and some ridiculous assumptions, but I would say as a movie lover there is yet to be a perfect movie, so some of the things are acceptable. Most movies that have an illustrious star cast end up being total bummers.
The characters are pretty well utilized except some. In a country where people drool over ridiculous movies like Chennai Express, this movie even though has a little common script has done a good job.
Prabhas has done a pretty decent job. I feel Anushka was wasted in the movie and so has Nadhiya & Sathyaraj who in my opinion, being a Tamilian, are brilliant actors.
I think if the movie needs to be branded a family entertainer, a lot of gore needs to be trashed. Explicit bloody scenes chase away families and retain only the men of a house. Brahmanandam offers a little comedy, but I think he's been under utilized to some extent as well. Overall a decent movie, one time watch. Music needs to improve couple of notches.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
Looks like Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is hiding in his shadow
I am trying to recover from the movie, Phew! I am wondering what just happened in the last 90 minutes. Kenneth Branagh has done an awful job as a director and also as Viktor. I just don't know what to write for 10 lines, the whole movie can be summed up by the word awful. Chris Pine as Jack Ryan? Seriously? After the likes of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, Chris Pine was chosen for the role? He does not even look like an analyst. i wonder what Keira Knightly's role is, the movie could easily have been made with no heroine. And Kevin Costner has made a fool of himself by accepting to act in this movie. And Kenneth Branagh looks cheesy to the core, just when you are getting over that cheesy image, he tries to act like a villain and fails miserably at it. Time is certainly precious and I should have saved my 90 minutes for something better.
Kochadaiiyaan (2014)
Breakthrough in Indian Cinema! Anyone else but Thalaivar, in this role would have messed it up! MUST WATCH! DO NOT MISS!
On the whole for the movie, I would only give 7/10, but I rated it 9/10 only because it was extremely thoughtful and bold to make a movie of this kind. A lot of the characters in the movie are wasted. More than a storyline as such, the movie is a celebration of the great Kochadaiyaan Ranadhiran and the principles he lived by and the legacy he left behind. I don't think anybody else could have handled this role to perfection, the way Rajnikant has handled it. Songs are decent, the special effects, the coverage of detail, the magnificence of the sets, the awesome music of ARR, the voice of SPB, and many more features makes the movie a MUST WATCH! Soundarya Ashwin has done an incredible job. Overall I would say, DO NOT MISS the movie! Yes there are quite a few technical flaws, but I think we should still appreciate the efforts. The dialogues as any Rajni movie are awesome. Was great to see the king of comedy Nagesh being included, I am sure a lot of work would have gone behind it. All is not rosy some critical thoughts: * Maybe they could have reduced the gory scenes couple of notches * Many characters have been wasted who possibly might be utilized in Rana i guess. * the movie lacked the usual Rajni humor * Maybe Jackie Shroff and Aadhi should have been replaced by Suman (who did a great job in Sivaji) or Prabhu and maybe Shaam/Jeeva/Jayam Ravi respectively. Both the former's expressions are not the best of features. When you are portraying a Pandyan King, you would want to use a Tamil star cast as your expressions are very important. Looking forward to Rana!
Pandiya Naadu (2013)
An excellent movie! A must watch!
The combination of a simple, well-scripted story, pace of the storyline and some very good acting from all around makes this movie a must-watch. Yes it is revenge-type of movie, but the approach is so refreshing. Hats of to the director for his incredible work. Bharathiraja, Vishal and Sharath stand out the best. The movie has a wonderful balance of emotion, revenge, romance, action and comedy. Imman's background score is awesome, couple of songs are good too. Overall a great family entertainer. I love the fact that the director has exploited Vishal's acting skills rather than his black belt in karate, which has been unseen since Sandai Kozhi. Don't miss this one based on Vishal's past record!
Now You See Me (2013)
Brilliant! One of the best you will ever see!
I rarely give a movie 10 stars! But this one deserves it. Probably the best movie on magic after "The Prestige". Whew! What a finish to the movie! I would have loved to see the connection between Morgan Freeman and Ruffalo's dad being explicitly shown at least for a couple of minutes, but no loss of points for it! It keeps you on the edge all the time! There is not a single moment in the entire movie wherein you feel "Oh I guessed that"! Throughout you are thinking who is their so called employer! I think all of them acted brilliantly, but the one who really stood out is Ruffalo! Packed star cast, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Mark Ruffalo... Interesting to see Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman in roles wherein they are not on the so-called good side. Very cleverly written script, with lots of suspense, twists, wit, humor and just great acting! A must watch! Don't miss it!
Ek Tha Tiger (2012)
Decent enough for a one-time watch
I have never been a fan of Salman Khan nor have I seen any movie of Katrina Kaif before. But this movie is decent enough for watching once. Salman for a 45 year old has done an exceptional job. Katrina is too plasticky, too artificial. I think a Vidya Balan or a Priyanka Chopra would have done a much better job. The movie has been shot in some beautiful locations that have been captured well. The story is excellent, and sparing a few unbelievable, nature defying stunts/concepts, the movie does have some substance. I think Salman should do more of Dabbanng-type roles rather than doing Jason Bourne-type roles. It does not suit his personality. I think Kabir Khan has done a good job although along the middle he gets too lost in romance. But timely comedy, decent twists, Salman's ability to look foolish naturally and some good cinematography keeps the audience fixed to their seats. Worth a watch! Go watch it without expecting the movie to be perfect. You will come back feeling content!
The Prestige (2006)
Absolutely Brilliant! The work of genius! Do not miss!
I think this is one of the all time best movies. I just happened to see it recently after I saw the first two of the Batman trilogy to understand the third, after I saw what Christopher Nolan had done with the Batman Trilogy! To remember each detail, to connect it so exquisitely, to utilize each character so perfectly, to show vengeance and yet to show humanity through vengeance and to create the sitting-on- the-edge-of-the-seat experience, is an act of genius.
Be it the main stars Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, the ever-brilliant Michael Caine, Rebecca Hall, Scarlet Johansson, and Piper Perabo or be it somebody like David Bowie or Andy Serkis, the utilization of the role and portrayal of emotions be it anger, love, joy, intimacy or humanity is brilliantly crafted.
Each twist is beautifully crafted delving into the details but not over doing. Although the story constantly switches between present and the past, the viewer is never lost as Christopher Nolan puts it all together so exceptionally well.
The entire movie is built around the cool, composed but wizard-type portrayal of Christian Bale vs a 'plagiaristic' Hugh Jackman with the pure obsession of being the best and to do it the villainous way.
Too bad that nobody won Oscar for this movie. But 2006 had some really classic movies. The Prestige is a must-watch!
Tezz (2012)
Wish i could give 0/10
What an incredibly pathetic movie! The movie has some of the best names in Bollywood, some of the best known people who know how to act, the production unit has some of the best known in the industry. But this movie just tarnishes all their image. Everybody's skills wasted to the core! What a horrible experience. Save yourself some money and time. Please don't do the same mistake i did. surprised how this movie has 4.4/10. You will see concepts fudged from The Italian Job, Speed and many more. Why do bollywood movies always have to have romantic links in a thriller. Why not make a pure thriller movie? A psycho thriller! I guess I don't want to write anymore.. In summary... Tezzzzzz ----> Runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
Agneepath (2012)
Horrible movie! Insult to the original movie
I happened to see Agneepath and I must say it is one of the most horrible movies in recent times with a lot of blood and gore and revenge with no class. You got to watch a movie to see a performance not masala and chikni chameli.. We must admit that some of these roles that Amitabh Bachchan has done simply cannot be matched. Agneepath, Sarkar, Hum, Black, Don..
If Karan Johar made this movie as a tribute, I must say he has no idea what a tribute means. As a director, When you rope in an actor you must use him for his strengths. Rishi Kapoor cannot play a villain, he is not meant for that role, Hrithik Roshan cannot play a revenge-seeking role.. Give him a role like Guzaarish and he will do fabulous, that's his class. yes he has muscle, does not mean that he can be an action hero. Sanjay Dutt looks menacing alright, but he also looks ugly. Give him a role like Ballu in Khalnayak and he will do a super job, but don't give him a role like this where he has to show his bald head and dirty tattoos. Danny Denzongpa was a class act in the original. I gave 2 stars to the movie because of Om Puri and Chetan Pandit. I think Priyanka Chopra was just wasted in the movie.
The reason an original is called an original is because it must stay Original.. Don't try to copy it and make a mockery of the original. Horrible movie!
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
Fabulous movie! One of the best entertainers ever!
I have seen this movie several times now lost count of it. Keeps getting better each time. It is among the best movies ever made. Classic example of how you can inspire through animation. The movie is a mixed bag of humor, drama, emotions, love, care, egos and finally victory. I cannot find a flaw in the movie. The effects are spectacular, the dialogues are very well-written, the cinematography is spectacular. I am sure that if this movie had been 2 1/2 hours instead of 1 1/2, we would still enjoy it and wouldn't feel the time pass. It is very rare that an animation movie keeps you at the edge of your seat and wanting for more. Great movie all round! Suitable not just for kids, but for every person in the family. It's worth buying a DVD for personal use.!
Sakthi (2011)
Time is very precious! Don't waste it!
Here are a few negatives right away 1) Idiotic stunts, 2) idiotic script with 99% flaws, 3) pathetic acting, 4) pathetic background score, 5) waste of characters.
You don't need so much money to make a movie like this. All you need is to bring all the characters together and ask them to run helter-skelter speaking whatever comes to their minds. The result. Shakti !!! Wonder what the director was thinking.
The irony is that the movie has some good actors who have a great name in the film industry. Magadheera was believable in that it showed a gap of 400 years and that time there were kings and queens who invaded other territories on horses, used swords etc. This one is pathetic. 27 years ago there were Egyptian kings interested in invading India? You've got to be kidding! Each scene is nonsense and the whole movie is just madness
Raavan (2010)
Bak Bak Bak Bak Bak___! Fill up the blanks with 3 alphabets!
Mani Ratnam, Santosh Sivan, AR Rehman, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Govinda... your mind sees the credentials of the cast and crew and you think, "I should not miss this one". Before you act, if you see this review... save yourself some money. The movie is pretty pathetic. It's a Mani Ratnam movie and the story is almost not original. Pretty sad huh? There is no storyline. The reason why I am giving 5 stars is not for the story, acting or music. 4 stars for the typical Mani Ratnam / Santosh Sivan - style of scene locations and character portrayal. and 1 star because Mani Ratnam is among my all time top 5 producers list for movie across all languages. But I do understand, everybody has at least 1 bad movie. If you want to see a movie with a great storyline with great performances some amount of humor and foot tapping music, this is not that type of a movie. But if you want to watch some spectacular cinematography that reminds you of movie like Kaalapani, Roja and movies like that, you will love the picturesque locations and will marvel at the scenic beauty.
Individual ratings compared to Ramayana
Abhishek as Raavan; pathetic.. 10 heads? Could not take one!: 2/10 Vikram as Ram... Big time Character Assassination: 2/10 Aishwarya as Sita, you got to be kidding. Wish she would scream lesser: 1/10 Govinda is perfect as Hanuman.. not for the role, but for being a monkey: 1/10 Santosh Sivan: 9/10 AR Rehman 5/10 totally out of sync...
