Not bad entertainment...
23 December 2021
...it was nice to see a western with a good cast of well known actors. All did well but would like to see Tim McGraw loosen up a bit more, he was too wooden. The foul language is too much for me, would like to see it downgraded from moderate to mild . The narration is not needed, hopefully it will be dropped in future episodes. Overall, I enjoyed the series and looking forward to the next episodes.

I enjoyed this film...
2 December 2021
...because I have been a fan of Heather way back in the 80's and 90's and have read the book, Don't sweat the small stuff at the time it first came out. It was nice to see Heather back in the game and I thought she did great in her performance. The two daughters performed very well too. I don't watch Lifetime movies because they are generally geared for younger viewers but wanted to watch this one because of Heather and the Carlson book. It's a genuine and heartfelt movie. If you are a fan of Heather or have read the book, watch it...I didn't feel I wasted my time on it. Six stars.

Where's the balance??
12 April 2021
I don't recommend this film. I have no problems for a film to show depressing people lives in a retirement community but to provide no balance of inspirational or uplifting stories of other retirees is just plain dumb. I didn't enjoy watching it...I had to skip a few minutes here and there on screen because it was depressing. If the film had shown more or focus into the lives of the other retirees who were happy in their community then I probably would have enjoyed it. Give this film a miss and google The Villages if you want some info on this community.

William Shatner at 90 years!
7 April 2021
Hard to believe that Shatner is 90 years young. He's one of my favorite actors and it's the reason I decided to give this little comedy a go. It's a easy fun watch and I enjoyed it pretty good. It was enough to lighten my mood and spirit. If you are a fan of Shatner, you might enjoy it too.:-)

Geared for young viewers
3 April 2021
Not a bad film. I watched it and enjoyed it for the most part. A watchable film for the young and old to enjoy together and learn. It's a mix of everything...serious drama, spy thriller, adventure, a bit of slapstick and so on. Good performances from most of the cast especially from Judy Dench and Eddie Izzard. I didn't feel I wasted my time on this movie. A decent 5 1/2 stars.

Great performances made this watchable
24 February 2021
It was the two main actors, Claes Bang and Guy Pearce that made this historical film a watchable event. I really enjoyed it. The film is more of a drama/thriller than a bio movie which elevates it a little better than a boring bio feature. There was a touch of humor there and there which lifted the mood a bit which I appreciated throughout the film. A good watch if you are into historical dramas or have a interest in the art world. 7 stars.

Agree with the low ratings on this...
16 February 2021
...and I really did not enjoy it. I was curious to see how Kathy would do as a actress in this but I didn't feel any connection for the character she was playing. There were some parts she did well but for the most part she is not a very good actress. Craig did better in his performance but between the two of them together there was not much chemistry going on. The lines were not funny. Nothing made me smile or laugh. But the scenery of Scotland is just beautiful...:-)

Who doesn't love Hanks?
15 January 2021
I am not sure why some people rated this movie below 7 but I really enjoyed it. I was thoroughly entertained because I felt the connection with the characters. Tom has the ability to make the viewers connected to the characters regardless of what role he is playing in a movie as he had done very nicely here in the News of the World. If you are a fan of Hanks, it's worth checking it out...it was worth my time/money...a good recommend and a solid 7 stars.

A piece of history unknown to me
9 January 2021
A interesting story I have never heard about in this historical drama based on a true story on the greedy giant corporations of the early 20th century that had lied and failed to protect its workers. After watching this film, I was curious to know more about the details of this period event through searching online...very disturbing facts but bravo to all the women that came forward to fight against what was taken from them and to warn others of these horrors. All the actors did well in their performance especially the two main actors who played the sisters. It's a watchable film if you like historical dramas based on a true story. Give it a go...you will learn something new from it. It's a 6 stars from me.

Not much to say...
18 November 2020
...except I agree with all of the low reviews on this one. I do not recommend this film...don't waste your time/ money on it. None of the soldiers were likeable and they were ALL crybabies...really?? The constant swearing didn't help either. Please find something else to watch.

If you like actress Noomi Rapace...
21 October 2020
...and period dramas set in the 50's, I recommend it. If you don't expect too much and just enjoy it for what it is...nothing special but I still enjoyed it even though I have seen better films like it. A decent 6 stars but 7 for the actress.

Lots of tense scenes...
30 September 2020
...that entertained me enough to rattle my nerves. I like watching survival movies so this one was right up my alley. Very good performances from both of the main actors that carried this film to a watchable event. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was enjoying this tense thriller. One of the better survival movies lately On Demand...worth the $6.99 rent for me. A decent 6 but 8 stars for the two actors.

If you like a bit of a hitchcock style, you might like it.
27 August 2020
I enjoyed this rather strange film. The dialog and some of the characters were a bit odd but that's what made this thing watchable. Good performances from everyone, especially from the main actor who played James. Overall, a decent watchable film with a bit of a Hitchcock style...you might like it. :-)

Really a mixed bag for me...
12 August 2020
...but a story worth telling of the bravery of Marceau and for all those in the resistance movements during the war. My review is simple...it's a little history story for the whole family to watch and learn but educate yourself on the real true story of Marceau afterwards. Bravo to all who saved the little ones.

Who doesn't love Liam Neeson?
12 August 2020
I have only seen Neeson in action films so I was curious to see how he would fare in a comedy drama. It was nice to see him stretch a little bit in this film and having his son along his side was interesting to watch. Generally, I am not a fan of comedies, but I did enjoyed some of the very few lines and goofs that made me chuckled loudly. It's the onscreen relationship between father and son that I enjoyed the most. A decent 6 stars.

Nice Australia vibe
12 August 2020
I am not really 'into' romance movies but found this to be a pretty decent summer flick. Kelly MacDonald did great in her performance. I have seen her in other movies and she always carry herself well. The Western Australia vibe really set the tone throughout the movie which I enjoyed and the little bit of the dirt music helped as well. If you enjoy romance films this might be the summer ticket for you. :-)

Look up Wikipedia...that's enough to know...
28 July 2020
I agree with most of the low ratings of 1-6 stars on this very tortuously long film. So, I am not going to repeat what has been said already on this but will say that I really enjoyed the beautiful scenery throughout the film. The story is a interesting one that I have never heard of but it was a real shame that it was not presented well IMO. After watching this film, I had to look up Franc Jagerstatter on Wikipedia to get a better understanding of this farmer and his real reasons for refusing to take the Hitler oath. My recommendation is to skip this film and just look up on Wikipedia on this courageous young man.

I liked it but....
22 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
...the story could have been presented better IMO. Kacey Rohl did well in her performance and she really did carry the film to a watchable event. It was a bit slow as expected on a character study but I felt there was too much time spend on her trying to get her fake medical records. I really liked Martin Donovan performance with her and it would have been better if more time was spend showing their relationship rather than her covering her tracks so much. I think it would have given the viewers a better understanding of what was making her tick. The ending was not satisfying, very abrupt and I thought, that's it? A decent 6 stars but 8 for the actress.

Did not enjoy this one....agree with the low ratings
21 July 2020
I enjoy watching a good war film if it is done properly. I have seen many war movies over the years and this one ranks low. I thought the script was poorly written and I didn't feel connected to the characters. The story was confusing, a mess to say the least. The foul language was constant throughout the movie and in every conversation by every soldier...really? As a female, I don't mind a few foul words every now and then in a war movie but this was too much, in so much I had to turn down the volume because I found it very distracting. I was very disappointed and was sorry that I rented this one. The only thing I found interesting was the ending credits of the interviews of the real soldiers and the photo line up.

Much better than all of comedies I have seen lately...
20 July 2020
I am not a fan of comedies because I find that most of them are just plain silly, not funny at all...just not my cup of tea generally. But I decided to watch this one based on the reviews here and I was pleasantly amused by it. There was some serious drama, a little romance, and most of all lots of singing. All the actors played their part well and it was not over the top acting silly thing. Some of the dialog humour made me smile and at the end of the movie I was smiling broadly...a happy humour ending. If you want a little pick me up movie watch it even if you don't like comedies.

A good bio...not great though...
18 July 2020
I enjoyed watching this for the most part. It was a bit slow going in the beginning but started to pick up tension when the journalist arrived in the countryside. James Norton did very well in his performance...he really stretched his acting chops like I have never seen him before. Peter Sarsgaard was good also but it was his usual self in his performance. The movie wasn't as entertaining as the other recent bio films of 2019-2020 but I still recommend it to anyone that enjoys a bio that features well known actors who do a good job of carrying the film to a watchable event.

PLEASE find something else to watch....
18 July 2020
I do not really understand the high ratings on this movie. I have seen a lot of WW 2 movies in the last 25 years in which the classics like Schindler's List, The Pianist, Saving Private Ryan, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, etc. were my favorites. These movies made you feel and understand the characters but in this movie The Painted Bird I didn't feel that much for the boy Joska. In every village the boy entered, he suffered violence and cruelty...there was NO balance between good and evil, it was ALL evil....REALLY?? There was only one person that showed real kindness in all of the villages and that was the Priest (Harvey Keitel). Who likes to watch a movie that ONLY shows pure evil?? I don't, NO THANK YOU. This movie was way too long and most of the violence or sex I couldn't watch it...I had to close my eyes and turn the sound off. I can stomach some movie violence but in this one it was one violence after the other in every village. I do not recommend this movie to anyone but if you like watching pure evil ALL through a movie go ahead and make your day. But if you like watching a war movie that has a good balance of good and evil PLEASE watch some other flick!

Better than what I have seen lately...
28 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I actually enjoyed this movie for the most part even though the idea that someone had spent 30 years in the hole is pretty far fetched but it was the two main actors, Lilly and Simon that carried this film to a watchable event. Sure, it's not one of the best thrillers I have seen but it's better than most of the new thriller movies I have seen lately on Demand. Only five stars for the film but 8 stars for the two actors.:-)

Not enough tension, no mystery here....
24 June 2020
I read all the reviews before I rented this on demand. I was in a mood for some suspense movie for the evening but this movie was very slow and there wasn't much tension or a real mystery to figure it out. Felt like I was watching a TV crime series but I did like the main actor which I have seen him in other movies...he did as expected of him. He was the only reason I stayed watching through the whole thing. It's not a really good movie but it was watchable for a lazy evening. Seven stars for the actor but only five for the movie.:-)

Not a bad movie
2 June 2020
After reading all the reviews, I decided to rent this on demand. It's a decent movie but I think it could have been better if the main actor Zach was replaced with the other actor Hal. I found Zack a bit dull, not enough tension. I wasn't impressed with him. All the other actors did fine though. I never seen Samara before so I thought she did really well. I did enjoyed watching it, but it's a movie that I wouldn't watch again.
