NCIS: Hawai'i: Pilot (2021)
Hawaii Five-No
This pilot was pretty dissaspointing, it felt like an attempt to recycle CBS assets leftover from Hawaii Five 0 by putting "NCIS" on it to get an existing audience. The plot of the episode was nothing new or engaging, and could have been used for any other CBS crime show. While Hawaii Five 0 and the Magnum PI reboot have made the state a character of the show, this show reduces Hawai'i into some bad stock footage superimposed behind characters talking in front of a green screen.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Generic Procedural, but Worse
The pilot was pretty dissaspointing, all of the characters felt like poorly written, generic stereotypes. The shooting style and color grading was also almost unwatchable and ugly. A few scenes were obviously shot in front of a green screen and were super oversaturated. NCIS: New Orleans was far from perfect, but replacing it with this is insane.
MacGyver: Save + The + Dam + World (2020)
Terrible Season Finale for a Generic, Mediocre Show
This episode was purely pointless, and had a really weird storyline. The show continues to deteriorate in both story and characters. Every episode is a generic action show plot, and most of the characters are completely unlikeable.
Hawaii Five-0: Aloha (2020)
Decent ending for a formerly great series
Despite the other reviews, this episode was a pretty good ending overall, and somehow managed to satisfyingly wrap up the remaining loose ends. From what I understood, this was originally the season finale, but became the series finale after CBS cancelled the series. It definitely appeared that there were a few scenes reshot in order to make it work better as the series finale. Overall it felt rushed, but was much better written then almost every episode from the last three seasons.
MacGyver (2016)
Reboot in name only, yet another generic action show
I was pretty excited for this show when it announced, and reasonably liked the first two seasons despite there being a lot of room for improvement. The writing and characters seem to have gotten progressively worse since then, and the current plotline isn't very interesting and is overdramatic. MacGyver as a character is pretty shallow, even compared to the original series, and the other characters are almost cringe-worthy. The much more simple formula of the original series, which had only MacGyver as the main character with a few recurring characters, was a better base with a lot more room for creative plots and wasn't another generic action show.
