Fire Country (2022)
I enjoy it
Is it Oscar material? Noooooo. It isjust good hearted corny entertainment. I enjoy streaming all the shows available today, but after awhile they r too deep, meaty, and depressing. Or cruel. This strike me as a modern version of the 60's family drama. And I look forward to it. I enjoyed Max in Seal Team and hope for the best for him in this show. I think the concept of inmates pitching in to help fight the fires is a heartening concept, whether it is based on truth or not.(hard to believe they would do something this innovative in California). And the cast of characters seem aptly cast for their parts. Hope they get another season.
Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
Well acted story
Mila Kunis does a great job. I would recommend every watcher, especially female,(and yes I am female) to question how much responsibility this young lady should takefor her part. Go off campus which is against the rules, get extremely wasted, never object to the sex (she said "ow"), and she is traumatized for life including breaking up with her fiance. There is no doubt that there were many young people who were jerks. Her included. Make your own conclusions from there. I thought it was interesting to include the promiscuous aunt, a drunk, who had consensual sex with many. That being said, the acting in the movie was excellent. I would jist encourage all to think about it.
RBG (2018)
Excellent movie with political bend
I m a Republican. I recognize what a self destructive political party with tons of rinos we are. I watched this movie as RBG was quite accomplished and I wanted to learn more about her That aspect was well presented and quite informative. And I guess for balance they included the remarks she made about Trump, and when she feel asleep at Obama's State of the Union (interesting that none of the other justices saw fit to wake her up?). Her friendship with Scalia was so positive. If you didnt know better however, you would think Clinton was the first president to nominate a female justice as it mentioned once in passing Sandra Day O'Connors name, and no mention of President Reagan. And championed her dissenting opinions due to a conservative court. What a shame the court has gravitated, like the rest of the country, to a body of extremists on both sides, and a "documentary " is so slanted. It for sure took away from the universal appeal it should have to honor a woman.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
not for me
This movie was dark and dragged. The acting, etc. Was all very good. It was the plot and the premise. The plot was disjointed and predictable. There was not one upiifting or positive scene. I also thought it interesting that the men were naked, including a few quick full frontal shots, but not one naked female. Never seen that in a movie! Sometimes when I watch a movie that is well done but not for me I feel I am glad I watched it. Not so with this one.
