The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Simply Great
I think I watched fellowship a million times this past week getting ready. Im also in the process of moving houses...so my mother has been quite mad at me for totally ignoring this life and fading into middle earth. And finally yesterday I saw it, ....and goodness.
Lets just say that Im blown away, I dont know if I can watch fellowship again without owning two towers to watch directly after it =)....I love fellowship dearly, but I have now made extra room for this new installment.
I just love the beauty of these films. They way that Jackson films them, the way the actors really aren't actors. Im convinced that Viggo is really Aragorn. That they just shipped him in from Gondor. I really think Middle Earth exist now, thanks Peter Jackson, you've made me loose my sanity. =)
I really really loved Legolas in this film, and not just because he is good looking, I just love Elves. And Gimli was really funny. Everyone on here has kind of been down on the whole gimli punchline, but I didn't think it was too bad, I really did laugh a lot and its good to laugh when you think all the characters you love are going to certain death.
Im in the process of reading the books, still only on fellowship, so I dont quite know the differences in this installment and its book, but I dont mind them, for I know they wont be tooo many. I just thought this movie was very very entertaining.
The last hour my friend said I had this look of total immersement. I think that is what Jackson's purpose was. To immerse his viewers into this world.
Thank You Jackson and all the cast......now do we really have to wait another year for the next one?
The X Files (1993)
Already miss it
Its been a couple of months since it ended and now I can still enjoy one of my favorite shows of all time on sindication.
The fact remains though. I really miss this show.
Unlike a lot of fans I like all episodes of the show, though sometimes without mulder it seems a little empty. But with his absence I really grew to like Scully a lot more than I had before, she has become a role model, and a strong symbol.
Anyway, I just felt like expressing my love for the show. I know when I get older, and if TV Land is still in existence I will be watching this show, and maybe have my kids watching it with me for the first time, Ill get to see there interest and excitement for those famous characters Mulder and Scully...it will remind me of myself, not too long ago.
Tuck Everlasting (2002)
I am now obsessed
When I was nine years old in Mrs. Nelms class she read to us the book "Tuck Everlasting" Its always been a favorite.
I really loved this movie version. I thought the casting was great, and just loved the look and feel...Jesse and Winnie running through the meadows and all...it was fun to watch.
I can't stop thinking about it, the story, the meanings, the lessons that are in this movie. Its a visual feast and something easy to relate to...none of us want to die....but we dont realize that immortality is not all its cracked up to be..."dont be afraid of death, but be afraid of the unlived life"...what an inspiration.
The Four Feathers (2002)
Enjoyable
I enjoyed this movie. Yes it has flaws, but I have come to believe that every movie is flawed in some way to someone.
What I liked most about this movie was Heath Ledger, as I watched I actually thought "He is an excellent heavy actor" I think he should presue more serious roles, he is good in teen comedy but I liked him much more as a serious character that is in depth and totally inner.
I liked the journy that Harry took from cowardice to bravery. I can't remember the actor who played Abu, but I shall say he was my favorite character.
Also I really enjoyed the music with this film. and Wes Bently preformed well, at one point I actually wanted him to get the girl...
which leads me to Kate Hudsun's preformance. I think she is very beautiful, and did pretty well...but me being the stupid teen age girl who wants to be an actress someday I say......I could have done better.
But no hard feelings Kate, your great.
I give this an 8. Because...I like the romantic epics with strange turn of events......hey Moulin Rouge is my favorite movie? What do you expect?
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
What a preformance!!
What a Preformance! Im just totally amazed. Mike Myers is just a thrill! I will never understand how he can create and preform such hilarious characters. I laughed through the whole movie, and screamed in the shocking moments. Though very potty-humor, i still thought this was equal if not better than the other two. Yeah Baby Yeah!!!
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
A Triumph~
Well I do admit the movie kind of took a while to get going....At first Anikan just seemed whiney and brattish to me....but after I got over that I started to really enjoy myself. Once the movie gets its momentum I felt more and more like I was a part of the movie, and more and more that I was back into the World Lucas Created with the original movies
Not only did I get lots of great surprises I got chill bumps throughout the movie. Unlike Phantom Menance (Which I too really liked) I didn't really feel like I was in a seperate part of the galaxy, but I felt like I was really seeing a history before luke and lea.
I thought all the actors preformed well, especially Ewan McGregor (who really has blossomed into a younger alec guinness) and Samuel L Jackson. And I do think Hayden succeeds in playing Anikan, though I found myself not liking Anikan very much by thet end of the film. But I think thats expected since he is the future Darth Vader and all.....
Love Story worked pretty well, and Suspense is superb! I think all in all this new addition to star wars is a triumph ~!
Spider-Man (2002)
Awesome
I just totally thought this movie was awesome. I loved the casting, I loved the Special Effects, I loved the story. And now Im spider obsessed....I may never get over it. Its definatly worth it, I may have to spend another 5.75 to see it again.
Crossroads (2002)
I wanted to shoot myself
What a horrible movie. I wanted to shoot myself.
Thats all I have to say Im sorry for those who liked it, thats fine, but for me....Im just going to go home and watch a good movie....
Black Hawk Down (2001)
A+
This movie was amazing. My blood pressure went sky high during the entire movie, with every gun shot, I would get tense. Josh Hartnett, Tom Sizemore, Eric Banna, and Ewan McGregor were terrific, and haha Ewen Bremmer brought comedy into it,...though it was shortlived. I really loved this m ovie. I really loved how this story was portrayed. I was so angry though, so angry at what was going on, and to know it really happened, and to know its still happening today in Somalia and other countries. And that it takes the loss of life to really bring that to people's attention. There was one point where it was said that it took killing people to negotiate. Thats the saddest thing of all, people dying...
A+ definatly for this movie!
The Others (2001)
Spooky and Suspicous
When i left the theater with my mother she said...."That was a replica of Sixth Sense" But i think not. I thought it was very very different. I totally believed this movie. I totally loved it. I didn't think it was slow, like some. I was inticed from the very beginning. I think Nichole Kidman, is that how you spell her name? Was very very good in this role. She was truly the heart of th emovie. And the two children who played Ann and Nicholous, were also very talented. Go see it, if not because of anything else, go see it for me.
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Fantastic
This movie was totally original in every way. I loved it! The beginning was a little odd, but once it got going, you really really get into it. My friend whom i took to this movie, was not really looking forward to it. But at the end of the movie, she declared "That is the best musical i have ever seen." Ewan McGregor truley steals the show, Yes Nichole Kidman is a beautiful talented actress, But in my opinion Ewan really is the key and talent of the movie. His voice!! I had no clue he could sing so well. Im so buying the soundtrack. My favorite part, is when He burst out...."This Hills are Alive with the sound of music"
I give it a 9 or 10...can't decide. I guess i will have to go see it again
Anne Frank: The Whole Story (2001)
I loved it
I have read the Dairy and seen a good deal of Anne Frank movies. I really enjoyed this one, it really gets you emmotionally involved. Especially the last hour, even though i thought the portrayal was a littl weak in spots of life in the camps, they did a good job for tv, and as far as i can remember no one has really shown the franks after they were discovered. I was just thinking before this movie came to be about how someone should portray what really happen to the annex family after they were found.
Anne Frank has always been a role model to me, and i approve of what this movie stands for and portrayed.
I give it a 9
Steel Magnolias (1989)
It always never fails to make me cry
I dont know what it is about Sally Field in this movie. However her shpiel over you know who dying...(dont want to give it away) Is so heart breaking. My friends and I always watch it when we are all together, and everyone one of us are left in shambles by the end of the movie because it is so movie. The acting is what i think make it so strong, and of course the writing. I loved Sally Field, and Julia Roberts/ And Wheeza or however you spell her name...lol. So please those who haven't seen it, just rent it and get some kleenexs,
Somewhere in Time (1980)
SOOOO Good
Okay, I first saw this movie when I was six years old, and thought it was so boring. But now, that Im older I borrowed my grandmother's copy of the movie and watched it. IT IS SO GOOD! I loved the story, the plot, the actors, and especially the music, its totally heart achingly good (i dont think that makes sense, but i dont care!) OH my goodness how i loved this movie. Okay, im a soppy person and very emmtional if you couldn't tell. But anyway, I loved the music, and plan on playing it at my wedding hopefully. And loved the acting, and the costuming. It was so good, and one all time favorite.
Lorna Doone (2000)
Great
I thought this was a great adaption of RD Blackmore's novel. I, like i have done with Rebecca, Read the book first and then saw the movie. The book was very long, as this movie is also. But the highlights make it all worth while. I loved Richard Coyle and John Ridd, and I also thought the music, and scenery were beauitful highlights of this tv movie. I thought the acting was almost 100% top notch, so all in all i give it high regard, and recommend it.
Rebecca (1940)
The Book and Movie
Alright here i go
First of all, i think that we all must pay our respects to Daphne DuMarrier, without her brilliant novel this movie would have never taken shape, I read the book and absolutly have fallen head over hills for it. She is brilliant in her writing and i love the story, the book has more information about the characters, and has more passion in it, its more realistic, and i love it,
The Movie was also very very good, i thought it wouldn't be very accurate to the book at first, because most movies aren't However i loved the preformance of Laurnece Olivier and Joan Fontaine, i loved the way it was filmed, and i love how it takes the lines straight from the book. Its a wonderful movie, and a classic, to the end of time.
For those who have only seen the movie, i urge you to read the book to get the full affect thanks
