Batman & Robin (1997)
Awww cmon......
Lots of people and Batman fans have plenty of good reasons to hate this movie and be completely disappointed. Sure, Joel Shumacher treated the entire franchise as a big joke, made the characters over-the-top and filled this movie with cheesy and corny lines. Sure, he murdered the depth of certain characters and made a lot of weird additions. So what? If you're here to simply get entertained, then Batman and Robin has the perfect formula in place. This movie is extremely funny and there's some nice action too. The characters aren't serious but they sure are lovable. Sure, it may be a comedy or even a parody at heart but its a highly polished comedy no doubt.
Duke Nukem 3D (1996)
The game that redefined the genre
Duke3D is quite possibly the best single player FPS of all time. Though outdated today, it was downright incredible when it released and a quantum leap over existing games. In single player it easily beats Quake but can't even compare to Quake in multi-player. For a sprite based engine, it did push its capabilities as far as it could have. Gameplay and interactivity wise, it is unmatched for what it did during its time.
If only 3D Realms are today what they were in 1996. Quite possibly the biggest pool of talent on the planet, slowly dispersed to other companies and using their talent effectively there. PC Gamer previews of Duke4ever said that the game was very much like the old duke. Lets hope it is.
Charlie's Angels (2000)
Whats going on?
The older Charlies angels series was supposed to be a serious one if I can remember it correctly. However, despite so much contemplation I still have'nt figured out of this lame movie is a really a parody or spoof or are the characters really supposed to act that way for real, making for quite a weird movie?
McG (where did he come from?) must have been totally stoned when doing this movie. Thats exactly how it looks and feels. For purely entertainment purposes, there isn't much to say either. It may end up giving you a headache instead of giving you the satisfaction of efficiently wasting 2 hrs. There are one or two good moments but the utter ridiculousness of this movie takes over eventually. Is this also the billionth time that Prodigy's "Smack my B*tch up" song has been reused in a movie or show?
