Curfew (2024)
Insightful!
This series sets out two stories that overlap:
The first being a gruesome murder. Who done it?
The second being a ludicrous idea of locking all men up from 7pm to 7am everynight whilst being monitered by an ankle tag.
Good acting and well filmed. However I do find some of the accents very harsh and grinding, whilst they murder the english language.
Obviously giving men ankle tags and locking them inside at night would not work in a democratic society such as the UK, however there are so many other reasons why this would never work and I think the series shows this.
I like programs like this that are thought provoking, before the mad politicians and fanatics come up with the idea.
One thing that I think would have been good and helpful is to highlight the abuse and murder statistics at the start of each episode. I personally have no idea.
Yes sadly there is a portion of men that need to be improsoned, monitered and watched, but I hope there are decent men walking our streets. I know a few. So in a civilised society this would not work, however this issue of violence against any innocent cannot be ignored.
Back to the drawing board!
Medium (2005)
Love love love this show.
This is based on a real life psychic, and Patricia Arquette and her lovely Joe bring it to our screens. This is one of my favourite shows of all time, the stories and the actors are awesome. I have watched all the seasons many times, and I never get tired of this amazing adaptation of the real Alison Dubois.
The Happytime Murders (2018)
Totally enjoyable. Pure entertainment!
This is a totally enjoyable film. It's a film to just relax and enjoy. It is hilarious and fun, full of innuendos and just totally entertainment and needs no brain power to figure out what is going on. It's brilliant, and of course stars the lovely Melissa McCarthy, who always makes me smile! :)
Spencer (2021)
Why?
Why was the first question that came to mind....why was this ever made? It was a fowl adaptation and if, it had any basis of truth to it, which I find hard to believe since the main character in real life has sadly passed then it is just cruel and really points a bad light on the Royal Family driving her to such madness. Which at the time seemed to be the case from an outsider point of view. Kristen Stewart plays the role perfectly though as it was made for her, she like the lovely late Diana, has a fragility that seems to stem from lack of confidence. It worked perfectly for this role.
The Watch (2012)
7 for excellent acting......
The script would get a 6, and it's so silly but it is great entertainment if your brain has switched off for the night. Love Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn and the whole team deserves a 10 for keeping a straight face whist filming this.
My Cousin Rachel (2017)
A very good adaptation
It was beautifully filmed. With great actors and I felt there was a tinge of Hitchcock greatness to its excellent directing. The best adaptation I have seen, although the 1952 version has its own charm.
Why Women Kill (2019)
Loved Season 1
Season 1 was brilliant and great fun to watch, a new and unique telling on a rare but true subject. A thoroughly enjoyable series, definitely a must watch. Season 2 was good, and was enjoyable in it's own right, but very different and had that desperate housewives feel to it. Although I really enjoyed both, I would have loved Season 1 to have carried on in that same way, and maybe a brand new show for Season 2 all for itself. Hence only 9/10.
The Disappeared (2008)
Watch this if you want to feel miserable.....
I watched this because Prime gave it a 4 out of 5 star rating. It was a waste of time, it was not interesting or entertaining. It was just miserable. I know the main character is supposed to be psychic, but half the time he seems drugged up or slow. The main character is a real whiplash of weird personalities. It could have been a good storyline, but it just turned out to be weird and miserable,
Mowgli (2018)
Couldn't watch it....
Even with a star cast of voices, I could not watch this. It felt like a %^&*take of a beautiful magical story. Everything seemed wharped. Nothing like the magical retelling of the jungle book which was awesome.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Brilliant Cast....
I found this to be sadly a true snapshot of a lot of our society today. It was perfectly performed by amazing actors like Di Caprio and Streep, and they really made it entertaining to watch. Without them it would have just been a shameful snapshot of large parts of society. Their beautiful acting made certain parts of society look as farcical as it is. For those that can think for themselves is it time we stop trusting in others and make sure our world stays safe.
Naked Attraction (2016)
How this ever got filmed let alone aired I will never know?
Britain have we really really stooped this low? I am not a prude and I love sex, but this is degrading on so many levels. Horrified even one person thought it was a good concept.
Wild Bill (2019)
Rob Lowe as awesome as ever!
If Rob Lowe wasn't such a good actor and so charismatic, this would be very droll. Everyone else except his lovely junior police woman is miserable rude and prejudice. I think it sadly didn't get a second season, although it was very good because it made all the British people look dreary, rude and ignorant.
Falling for Figaro (2020)
Underwhelmed!
Even with such a talented cast I couldn't get through the first 20 minutes. The cinematography was atrocious, even London town and the beautiful wilds of Scotland were made to look underwhelming. I am sure it could have been an entertaining film with such a cast but I can't brave the massacre made of filming it to find out. I found it an insult to my eyes :(
The Virgin of Juarez (2006)
Brought the suffering to my attention.
This film although not a great classic brought this sadness and suffering to my attention. For this I give it 10. The film itself probably rates a 7. But I will give it 8 just for casting Minnie Driver who is awesome. It is always good to highlight the evil in this world, if only to remind people it's not good enough.
Sensing Murder (2006)
Wow....
Unless this is all staged and made up for the camera this series is amazing. The psychics truly do stop you from ever doubting that a few talented people in this world can communicate with spirits. Totally mind blowing spot on testimonies. The one thing it lacks is taking it further to see whether the information gleaned help pinpoint the killer. I don't know whether it will be possible but hopefully they will have a program that shows how the psychic views helped catch the killers. That would just be really awesome.
Clarice (2021)
Could be Awesome
This series could be great, the story line, the filming, the content is great, but unlike the original silence of the lambs, this Clarice is not likeable, it is really hard to relate to her. You can't really get on her side. It lacks that devotion to the story and character, and is missing that quintessential lovable characters to side with. Which Jodie Foster played beautifully.
United States of Tara (2009)
How awesome is Toni Collette!
This is such an enjoyable and entertaining series. And wow how awesome, beautiful and talented is Toni Collette. Always enjoy it when she is in a film/series. Awesome family dynamic, always something to laugh about and cry about and make you grateful it's not your family. But hey you still end up loving them all.
Hollywood (2020)
Hollywood got there in the end!
How wonderful if this had been the true story of Hollywood. But to give them their due, they did eventually get there in the end! Thoroughly entertaining, I hope there will be many more seasons to come. Love the actors, characters, story line and of course the glitz and the glam. Very well done.
Rebecca (2020)
Shocked that they even tried to remake this film.....
I have never taken time to write a review here, but for this I had to make an exception. I was so excited when I heard about the remake. The actors are gorgeous and the film looked glam but oh was I sorely disappointed. The 1940's Hitchcock version of this film was pure perfection. Whose silly idea was it to try and better perfection? This was a pale and insignificant remake in every way. Just a total waste of talent and money.
