Gloomy Sunday (1999)
10/10
This has got to be one of the best European films around!
27 April 2001
"Gloomy Sunday" is the title of the famous music that has lead over a hundred people to commit suicide. The story begins with a death of a 80-year-old Hans at the restaurant after listening to "Gloomy Sunday". Now it focuses on the beautiful woman's picture and goes way back to Hungary during World War Two.

This film's about people's love, jealousy, hate, and betrayal. The actors were stunning. To understand the whole concept of this film, you must watch it for yourself. "Gloomy Sunday" is a masterpiece.

Deep Impact (1998)
This movie was great

It was far better than Armageddon. It is more realistic actings and backgrounds. The movie itself is very sad and tragic in some ways. Wonderful performances by Tea Leoni, Morgan Freeman, Robert Duvall, Elijah Wood, and the rest. The scene when Leo and Sarah were parted brought me to tears.

And the special effects were not bad, either. Ignore the harsh comments and rent this movie if you're really interested.

Let It Snow (1999)
A Pleasant Surprise
6 April 2001
I agree with other people, this movie is different from other Romantic Comedies. The story's about two boy-girl friends developing their relationship and eventually fall in love with each other. James wants to be a cook in CIA, and Sarah wants to marry Mr.Right.

The characters are realistic - and James' mother is somewhat funny. I don't know why I like this movie so much, but "Snow Days" was so charming and funny. James's speech at Sarah's engagement party was very sweet. Don't expect another "Pretty Woman" or "The Wedding Planner" for this movie.

The Haunting (1999)
Not scary enough
6 April 2001
Is this flick supposed to be a horror/thriller? Well, it wasn't scary enough for me. It was definitely not "The Exorcist", and not even close to "Scream" flicks. Jan de Bont has been disappointing me a lot lately. I found this movie stupid and boring. Well the special visual and sound effects were cool, though. Why did those talented four actors even bother to star in this?

Some scenes like when Nell sees her reflection in the mirror was freaky, but they could have added more scenes like that.

When Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley meet....

They are absolutely hilarious! I thought this movie was funny. The story wasn't bad either. It's a regular "Good" comedy movie. The CIAs were hilarious too. Well, the fashion show stuff was pretty dumb, but it seemed neccessary for the movie. If you like comedy movies, watch this flick. I don't think you'll hate it.
