Avengement (I) (2019)

What a Gem

Trawling through Netflix for an action movie and a friend of mine told me to give this a watch, it didnt look like much but thought I would give it a go. I cant believe I havnt heard anything about this Gem of a movie before. So much better than I was expecting, savage fight scenes pritty much all the way through and some great dark humour. Basic story but so well done and kept my attention the whole way through. Also a brilliant cast of veteran British gangster stars

Now I need to take a look at some of Adkins other movies and if they are half as good as this one it will be time well spent.

Prey (I) (2022)

Boring

Ok, I really should not be reviewing this as I fell asleep after about half an hour but what I did see was just boring. Well done, well shot and beautiful but boring.. Seemed to center around the relationship between the girl and her dog, I hope he didnt die.

Clean (IV) (2021)

Slow burn epic

Slow burn, but worth the time. I little generic but also alot of very real emotion and true reality. Enjoyed it from start to finish and would easily watch it agin, great soundtrack too.

DMZ (2022)

Definitely nothing like the comic

This is not a 1 score, neither is it a 10 score. Its just a lazy, badly put together, forgetable trudge through a DMZ that is unrecognizable from the original comic. I gave up after the 2nd episode because I had absolutely no interest in seeing anymore or it.

The Ipcress File (2022)

A solid Spy Drama

I enjoyed every episode, 1960's spy drama done right with great camera, lighting and sound work. The sort of thing the BBC used to make before the agenda driven drivel they roll out nowadays. Good on you ITV.

1's and 10's

So I was just going to leave a 1 star rating but I thought I would also check out others reviews to see if any had the same opinion on it as myself. I scrolled down 6-7 pages and its all 1's apart from three 10's. The 1st called me 'illiterate' the 2nd just assumed I was white and the 3rd said I was part of the problem. This really does sum up the people giving this a 10/10 - Self Rightous!

Midnight Mass (2021)

Riveting from start to finish. Non woke story telling with real fleshed out characters and and fantastic plot. I just love anything that is not predictable garbage and this is definately not that (apart from the ending but then it could not really pan out any other way). Hoping theres a follow up. So happy to see great shows appearing again. Watch it! You will not be regret it.

Brilliant Trial by Combat

A great movie, so much better than I hoped for. Beautiful, brutal, realistic, well written and acted and the trial by combat at the end was some of the best medieval combat I have ever seen. I was slightly put off after I realised the story would be the same thing showed 3 times by 3 different perspectives but it was done so well it actually made the whole thing come together brilliantly.

Almost unheard of for me but I thought this was so much better than the first one, great synergy between Brock and the alien and some of the interactions cracked me up, the end was a bit predictably bland but worth a watch just for the laughs.

So this is a slow burner. The survivers dont just hack and slash their way through the Infected like hot knives through butter as in alot of other titles of this genre and they do make alot of stupid mistakes including constantly throwing their weapons away and making way too much noise. BUT it does have its fair share of suspense and frights and the idea of two survivors, one being blind and the other pregnant is a nice touch and makes it well worth a watch for people who like this genre of movie.
