Long Way Up: Oaxaca to L.A. (2020)
I think I know the reason why!
What a let down! I think the only explanation is that Ewan McGregor must have signed his contract for the Obi-Wan series with Disney and was therefore prohibited from riding till the end (on Mexican portion of the trip). So they went along with this "dangerous roads" theory, which even made feel Ewan very uncomfortable (when he discusses it with one of the producers).
Ruta Madre (2019)
Not good, not funny.
How in the world this movie was ever green lighted? Non-existing story, shallow characters, stereotypes, it's a total, pretentious mess. No link between scenes, no interactions between characters, half of them are useless, just filling up.
It tries so hard to be cute, funny, it's just painful to watch. All the awards it received must result from PC culture and diversity quotas. It's a shame, because there are many, many more talented film makers with Mexican background.
Margaret (2011)
Total mess.
This film is a total mess: dramatically, there's no tension, no direction, just a chain of scenes loosely tied up to each other, and the majority of them completely unnecessary, way too long and just plain boring. Lisa's character is frankly despicable, selfish and shallow. Her motivations are unclear, and at some point it seemed that she just wanted to release her own guilt over the accident that she was partly responsible for. If the director's intentions were to confront her idealistic vision of life and the world around, well, he failed and created instead an annoying and frankly spiteful. I understand that the director wanted to create the ultimate teenage movie, but it's just a total mess. Don't waste almost 3 hours of your time on it.
L'appât (2010)
Total waste of time and money!
What a waste of time! It's really, really bad, on any level: writing, acting, directing. I like Rachid Badouri very much, he's the main reason I watched this movie, but even such a talented guy couldn't save this total mess. The plot is simply idiotic, but it could be okay if it was funny! The only time I laughed a little was at the Bloopers in the ending credits. Beyond the fact that this movie is just awful, it makes me wonder how come it was ever made. Do those people even read the script? The dialog is awful, trying to play on antagonism between French and Quebeckers, but it falls flat every time. Please, stay away from this movie, take a walk outside, even if it's raining, you'll have a much better time than being insulted by so much stupidity and pretension that this film contains.
The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
Shaky camera, frozen ideas
The shaky camera seems to be the only idea that the director found to describe the secret and shady world of CIA. What about light, editing, other camera movements - there is so much to explore. Even people talking on the phone are filmed that way, it's ridiculous! And the fight scenes are a total mess. I think director was just too lazy to direct and find some interesting ideas for the movie. The story itself was also quite predictable. As for acting, I could hardly see the actors, so it's hard to tell. It's a pity, cause I loved the first movie. Maybe on the TV screen it will work better, let's hope so, and keep Paul Greenfield away from any camera!
Waiting to Exhale (1995)
A real disaster!
This movie is awful! The caracters are shallow and almost ridiculous, especially Lela Rochon. It's a very, very, very bad soap opera. I was watching this movie with my wife and we were laughing almost all the time. It is much too long, with no rhythm with absolutely no emotions. It is only a poor attempt to manipulate the viewer by using one cliché after another. Skip it, it's a waste of time!
