Philippa Langley (an existing person whose name you'll definitely want to look up after watching the film) is excruciatingly fatigued in her job but, thanks goodness, she has a habit of becoming super-keen and enthusiastic once there's something that really interests her. So when she is corrected and jeered at at the theater where she watched a Shakespeare play on Richard III, her sense of justice and desire to reveal the facts about this somewhat mysterious historical figure sets her off on a tireless rocky road of a journey to find the truth.
Amazing work of Sally Hawkins, as usual; classical Frears, an absolutely true story, which makes the film educational apart from being entertaining as well as teaching us to believe in ourselves whatever happens.
