Love Me Instead (2021)

Complex yet interesting

The story started a little too slow. I had many questions in the beginning, as the characters and the mise-en-scene of some flashbacks were not fully explained. The director definitely kept us in the dark for too long. But after my questions found answers - somewhere half way during the movie - I started to feel more empathy for the characters. I LOVED the acting; Yonca's acting especially! And what I LOVED the most about this film is the portray of the location i.e. How the residents live, walk, talk and behave. Using real residents from this deprived area really gave this film a magic touch.

Great job director!

This story is every gay man's fantasy

The social culture of South Korea back then, together with the physical attractiveness of the players and their chemistry made this movie very deep, emotional and erotic at the same time. Loved the set design, the costumes, the music, the lights, and the dialogue. And the ending is exactly what I needed. As I was watching it, I wondered what would've happened to them later in life, and there it was...

This is my new favorite gay movie.

Neighboring Sounds (2012)

Not great, not bad.

There were some unneccassary scenes in the film causing it to be horrendously long. After reading some of the other reviews I can understand the class division, but that's only after reading the reviews. Most of what is told in this film is not easy to understand for a non-Brazilian. That makes me wonder: is a film considered "successful" if a 'leek' does not understand it? My answer would be 'no'.

And personally, I don't like gaps c.q. unanswered parts in films. This film has quite a bit of gaps in it.

Son-Mother (2019)

Very good debut!

Really good job as this is her debut feature film. The message was loud and clear: a mother's love is neccessary for any child. No child should be or feel disowned.

I made it through the first hour of this film (most of the time being on my phone I must admit) and then stopped watching it.

This movie has no exciting parts at all. Who's the target audience? Dead people?

I Lost My Body (2019)

My heart cried. Absolutely a new favorite!

The first 11,5 minutes of the film were absolutely thrilling! Excitement, fear, sadness, heartache. It is unbelievable!

This film is stunning! The theme song really adds the element of pain.

My absolute favorite scene is where Naoufel finds himself LOST at his parent's burial. I broke down in tears. This scene is unequivocally the strongest scene in this film. It caused a flashback to my own childhood trauma's.

Also, this is the first film ever that I immediately watched again. That's a scoop for me, and what does that say about this film? EVERYTHING!

Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008)

I've wanted to finish this since my teens!

I missed a lot of episodes growing up, and for years I'd wanted to fully watch it, and now I finally have. This show is by FAR the best animation ever! Storyline, visuals, tension, etc. All great. Only reason why I didn't rate it 10 stars is because Aang's group got defeated a lot of times throughout the show; I found that a little unbelievable...

I totally get the point the director tried to make, but after some time the whole "I'm black, you're white, you don't get it" thing got annoying. This story could've been told with a different dialogue. More educational, and less defensive.

Loved some scenes in it. Very strong scenes. Other not so much. The imbalance of strong and weak (superfluous) scenes makes it less strong than it could be.

The story line is what you would expect: full of action and a happy ending. I love simple, good action movies like these. It could've had more and intricate action though.
