So much plaid
11 July 2023
Viewers can check off all the boxes: a.). All manly men wear plaid shirts. B.)A young girl trips and falls while running. The young boy doesn't. C.) Female sheriff's deputy doesn't wear a regulation t-shirt with her uniform, showing a lot of cleavage. It's okay to forgo a bra while on duty, too. D.) No one thinks it's a good idea to call in militia or notify authorities immediately. E.) There's the usual gratuitous nudity f.) Continuity errors. Guy in fight scene shifts from blue plaid to green plaid to blue plaid shirt a few times. G.) Actors learned their craft at the local convenience store.

Razorteeth (2005 Video)

More painful than a piranha bite
28 May 2023
Flying dead piranhas. A resort that doesn't require guest registration or credit card. An Alien rip-off when a razor tooth exits a guy's chest while sitting in an outhouse. The same outhouse guy who keeps his dog on a short leash attached to his belt for no obvious reason. I've never seen a Polonia Brothers movie, so have nothing to compare it to. Now I'm on a quest to find more. This one is on Amazon Prime Video.

At least the women actually were clothed while swimming, unless I missed a nude scene. I'm not sorry I watched though. It gave me something to do while using my weights at home on a non-gym day.

It's watchable
19 December 2022
It's neither a 1 nor a 10 in my opinion. But I did enjoy the premise-a mixed cast of persons with varying abilities & qualifications gather to find pirate treasure. The show offers military & cultural history, stunning topography & views, & documents a decaying, once-thriving town. Inconsistencies can be explained: all reality shows are heavily edited to condense weeks or months of filming into a few hours. At least viewers weren't subjected to manufactured drama among the cast.

I read just online that the Aleut. Corporation, an Indigenous entity, owns/ controls the island, which explains why permission must be obtained to dig

Yeah, I'll watch another season, hoping they take a more methodical approach to exploring.

28 Days Haunted (2022– )

Why, Netflix, why?
16 November 2022
I'm a believer who's watched many paranormal shows over the years. This one is just awful. The "experts" displayed fear, some ready were to abandon the investigation, confrontations among team members appeared contrived, the music overpowered any sounds that may have been real, etc., etc. Then an entity caused heart attack symptoms and ER couldn't find a cause for them? Nope. Not trying to be snarky, but maybe Jereme's health didn't help. His acting in the last episode was so over the top ridiculous that I laughed aloud. The only reality is the haunted sights themselves. No need for another season.

Indigenous (2014)

A minor, but watchable movie.

I need to evaluate the realities of movie situations. Didn't this group of sex-hungry, vapid 20 -somethings know the Darien Gap is one of the most lawless & otherwise dangerous places on Earth? Bandits, guerillas, venomous snakes, impossible terrain, dense jungle pose life threatening dangers. The waterfall pool must have been ice cold, but they were frolicking like it was a spa.

I've never heard of the actors, but they were credible. They certainly characterized the young tourists as unrelateable, annoying, and empty-headed.

The lighting was moody, dark, and just right.

Go go boots. Hip huggers. Ample cleavage. Short, short skirts. Bell bottoms. The costumer went with the fashions of the 1970s to clothe a far-in-the-future space ship crew. But how did the hunk keep his white pants spotless? Ditto with the others ' garments. The filming location was perfect, though, to give a sense of aloneness, arid landscape, unforgiving terrains. Stop motion animation is wonderfully retro now, but it's nicely done for the 1970s.

They quickly learn tool & fire making, shelter building, basket weaving, adapting to what may be their long -term home.

There's a lot to lampoon, including the ghastly acting, but it's not a bad way to spend 90 minutes.

Unsolved Mysteries: A Death in Oslo (2020)

A multi-layered suspicious death
21 February 2022
No powder burns or blood spatters on hands/clothes. Labels removed from clothes. A non-existent Belgian address and employer. A fake name. No passport presented at front desk. Second name on registration was Lois (also spelled Louis) Fairgate. Who was this person? No family or friends claimed her body. Why? There was time plenty of time between Security knocking on her door, hearing a gunshot, leaving, returning for someone to leave after murdering her. I have no doubt she was targeted as an intelligence operative who knew too much.

Not mysterious.
21 February 2022
He was prominent, respected, well educated, with government connections. His untimely death, therefore, must be a hit, according to family & law enforcement. A witness shared a cab, but the account was dismissed. It's more likely than not he was mentally distressed, climbed into a Dumpster for warmth or escape from imagined pursuers, and was crushed by the compactor. I see no "layers of mysteries" or possibility the reward wasn't claimed because the perpetrators had been paid off. It was a tragic end to a life well-lived in the service of his country.

A silly mishmash
23 January 2022
I've watched 2 episodes of Season 23, after sitting out a few seasons. No more. Chefs require contestants who don't know a turnip from a tilapia to debone a chicken, work quickly, present a practically perfect meal, etc. It's no longer learning about nutrition, basic cooking skills, methodology, food safety. Okay, humor does lighten the goings-on, but this is just too nonsensical for me.

Ho hum-ish, but not awful, awful
4 November 2021
I just watched it on Prime Video. There's no explanation of the crowd of zombie-ish men and women our stalwart heroes encounter while driving someplace or another. The women scream-a lot. Scientist dad doesn't ever remove his hat or tie. The group managed to get through a day or more without the benefit of food or drink. They worked as a team to defeat the reptilians. The novelist/hermit who didn't believe in slime people was actually well acted. I think the film was 1/2 notch above The Beast from Yucca Flats.

Pitiful. Just pitiful.

The Red Tide finale was a rushed, thrown together hot mess that reminded me of a bunch of trailers. There was no cohesion The other five episodes were intriguing, well acted. Death Valley finale jumped a three-headed Sharknado shark. End of review.

Jumbled mess
24 September 2021
A bitter pill to swallow. Red Tide was washed up. Those cliches summarize my opinion. The finale failed the series. It looked like clips or previews for an upcoming movie or show:: disjointed, no context. And a zombie or pale apocalypse, no less. I thoroughly enjoyed the other episodes with their spot on actingexpect-the unexpected happenings, strong plot. Best actors, for me, were Leslie Grossman and Macaulay Culkin.
