Ouija Shark (2020)
Teenage Girls are the Root of All Problems
Oh, those darn teenage girls; always messing with what they shouldn't be messing with. Rated 4 for following the Hollywood script for teenage girls, otherwise 2.
6 Underground (2019)
Too Much Action Flic
I love action flics; Ryan Reynold's cliched humor not so much. Beyond that minor point, how much action and cgi is too much? 6 Underground answers that question. Action movies don't have much of a plot but this one has none. The whole movie relies too much on fast camera shots, cgi, and comedic cliched relief.
What I really don't like is the romanticization of black ops and high tech warfare. It's seems so easy to make the rich and powerful the villain and then take them down with high tech and specialized crews. It's just an overused formula in Hollywood. Overkill takes on a special meaning here.
The Art of Self-Defense (2019)
Good start, but predictable by mid-stream
Interesting concept, and it begins well, but the whole plot development relies heavily on Jesse Eisenberg character in past performances. The plot twist is easily guessed about halfway through the movie, at which point I stopped watching.
Eternal Code (2019)
Being a low budget film is not an excuse for a terribly made film
Right from the get go the acting is bad. The evil board director has terrible lines and no delivery. The music is like elevator music on tranquilizers. They try to sync the music with the action and it becomes distracting overkill. For example, the "good girls" doing something for the suicidal dude. The music was so bad I thought it was a commercial. Oh and the bad girl keeps showing up with a coffee for him for saving her life? The plot is so thin you can see the B movie VPL.
Speaking of the suicidal dude, who is he? A hero, a main character? He keeps showing up being the lovable loser who secretly does good, but his character is like a wet brown paper bag on the sidewalk.
How this is a 7.2 rating is beyond me. I stopped watching at 20 minutes. I am starting to question the integrity of IMBD
