When Billie Beat Bobby (2001)
Was it really this big a deal?
I suppose it was. not a horrible film, but it wasn't the best film of the year. It made me recall the real battle of the sexes and the circus surrounding it. My only real comment on the film would be, who the heck thought Fred Willard would make a good Howard Cosell?
Earthquake (1974)
In "SENSE-SUROUND!!!!!
I like it. It's cheesie! I was about 9 when I first saw it, and I still love it. Sure it could have been better, but so could most films. It started a genre, and I always have a good time watching it. Lighten up critics, you don't find pure cheese like this everyday! 8 Goudas out of 10
The Cider House Rules (1999)
The Cider House Rules...Rules
I must admit I really liked this film. The theme of morality and tolerance were well played. While I am not ashamed to say I am totally opposed to abortion (I'm adopted), but I also believe that the government cannot legislate this sort of morality. The movie presents this in a fair and ballanced way in my opinion, and I would heartily recomend this film to anyone. I didn't find the nudity or sexual content too offensive, I think it was handled in a classy way, as was drug addiction. I've never been a big fan of Irving, but this is a very good film, not too arty for it's own good. I believe it has potential to be remembered as a classic.
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996)
The Cheese has landed
Okay, this is probably not the best MS3TK ever, but it is very funny. There are parts I'm still laughing at, "Uh...should we be watching this.." and "Ladies and Gentlemen...a Flock of Seagulls". What can I say but I never realized what a goofy movie "This Island Earth" really was. A lot more over the top than I had thought. I suppose perspective is everything.
The Italian Job (1969)
You will believe a Mini Cooper can fly.
This is listed as my favorite movie. 2 reasons, a pretty good story, and some of the best driving and stunts you'll ever see, done in Mini Coopers. The story is a basic "caper plot" with some decent performances from some great talent. but the real stars are the Mini Coopers. Many people do not realize that these cars were not heavily modified, they only had a skid plate/ski added to protect the sump. All the stunts were real (outstanding driving from Reme Julliene's stunt team) and even the traffic jam was real. It's also a fun period piece, complete with score by Quincy Jones. See it, if for no other reason than to find out how the humble Mini won the Monte Carlo 3 times, and was voted European Car of The Century.
