Planet of the Humans (2019)
Brave and urgent journalism
Michael Moore deserves a rating 10 for his brave initiative to show the b(l)ack side of a story. Very few people have the courage to be the dissident in the group that thinks they own the truth, the wits and the wisdom. The critics and insults he gets from the group he is supposed to belong to, makes his film even more urgent. Mr Moore, MOORE of this controversity please!
Paradogma (2018)
How dare you! There is no other opinion!
However I missed the structure in this film a bit, I saw a brave compilation of interviews with wise, critical thinkers. Like the previous film in this sequal (The Uncertainty..) this film is a mirror for everyone who thinks they are free thinkers. Should be inspiring and if you think not, you may not be the independent critical thinker you think you are. Forgive me for this, I am also no independent thinker. No one is. My gut feeling always leads the way. This film is about cultural inquisition and my gut feeling says no to that. Marijn's talent is to present this as independent as he can, so that everyone can form his own opinion.
The Uncertainty Has Settled (2017)
The inconvenient mirror of The Inconvenient Truth!
Without pushing political ideas, but just raising interesting questions, Marijn Poels is showing stories about what agricultural policy means for local farmers. He asks questions at wise men who are thinking out of the box. This film showed me how science isn't free and independent anymore. Science that doesn't match the dominating political agenda, is simply ignored or even removed. Of canceled, as they call this nowadays.
Return to Eden, It's All About Coming Home (2020)
Hope for humanity in agriculture
In search of answers about the human future, Marijn shows a colourful variety of ways in how man is growing food in different parts of the world. Sounds boring? The more reason you should watch! Not one single moment in this film bored me. Marijn also shows the political agenda in food growing, but avoids to push a political opinion like most journalists nowadays do. That's his wonderful talent: giving people food for thought. People, think and search for yourselves. Food growing and distributing is a very important subject for human future. This film is made with live and it gives hope. That's rare.
