Aura (2018)
Acting and script awful
Good(ish) premise.. Effects are ok and musical score was on the nose, however the acting and script are just terrible.. most lineS feel unnatural and forced and every scene and behaviours of the characters are not plausible in the slightest. The protagonists disregard for his wife's safety and his willingness to pull someone out of a psychiatric hospital... his whole performance is bad and not believable. Supporting actors are awful as well, mother and wife, just shocking. Build up is poor and before you know it it's just another exorcism movie.. just a bad one. Don't waste your time.
Actress who played Karen was good and only thing that kept me engaged
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
A feast for the eyes but famine for the heart
Well, what to say a very disappointing season to finish an 8 year saga.. I've rewatched to ensure I can give a balanced view and not an angry impulsive one!
So many questions, so many exciting promises of developing plots over the 8 years that have amounted to nothing! Prophecies, God's, Jaegan H'gar, the red priests, Azor Akai.....Whilst I can see, some of the characters conclusions where almost poetic, you really have to look hard to see them as the viewers don't get enough time to buy into the emotions of their endings/demise... they just kinda happen...
Story aside, there were some really poorly thought out plot turns that stuck out like a sore thumb:
- Where were the 10k strong army hiding during The battle of Winterfell?
- How did Arya kill the night king? It's an impossible scenario that was forced down our throat, the same way a mother tells their child "Because it is" or "Because I say so" with no rationale offered
- How does Euron sneak up on a dragon (not to mention their shocking decline in shooting accuracy over 1 episode)
And that's just this season!
- Dorne.. they were I thing one weren't they?!
- Yara.. what's she been doing!
- Cersei... any narrative on the fight between the living and dead?
- where's Daario, the sorcerers, the queen of dorne, the lord of light, the prince that was promised etc etc et bloody cetera!
I've read some reviews, claiming the crew did they best they could and maybe tired... ha that's a joke. If they didn't have the gumption to see it through for the fans they should of handed it to someone else... but I don't believe that. Unfortunately, it is just pure laziness from a firm with no creative obligations just that of a financial nature, which they can no longer profit from thus we have a lazy, nonsensical rushed finale to a world wide phenomenon... it's a real shame
The narrative depth all but disappeared in this season, the lurpac advert gave more care to roasting their potatoes then the writers clearly gave to concluding this saga!
And true to that advert "Give it some care and give it 10 episode... and some lurpak"
