End of a Gun (2016)
good lord....
5 minutes into the movie I was already facepalming myself to death
The philisophical Seagal philosophing about life while being his typical stoic shallow action hero at the same time just doesnt fit
Seagal trying too hard to use street slang, saying "man" at the end of every sentence ,even using it on a freaking women.. cringy!
The supporting girl watching her boyfriend getting murdered by Seagal because apparently he interfered in the fight, and not only is she not traumatised about the incident but shes hapy and smiling and flirting with Seagal the next day, what the
hell was that?
the "french" extras barely speaking a word of french because they have a horrible accent when they do, you're telling me they could find a handful of french actors in France or wherever this was filmed?
The guy who gets his throat cut at the beginning feeding straight lines to someone standing in front of him with a knife about slicing his throat, so predictable and poorly written
the mob boss that is the most goofy looking villain I've ever seen, with ridiculous hair and voice that isnt synched
the rest of the movie is a pseudo-heist movie with a cop who somehow has no compunction about stealing mob money, as if sudddenly two wrongs make a right and thats ok in his ethic code
Silent Night (2002)
One of the best war movies I've seen..
I was watching late night TV when I came upon this movie and I was completely absorbed by it. All I have to say is wow.. just wow! Everything is so different in this film, it shows the true human nature behind the killing machines soldiers become, and how enemies can even bind in the most unlikely situations. It is not meant to show the atrocities of war (bullets flying everywhere, guts being spilled on the ground, etc) but how ridiculous it can be for living, breathing, thinking human beings to kill each for causes that are not even their own.
I highly recommend it to anyone, WW2 passionnate or not
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Don't bother...
I just don't know where to begin, but I'm still trying to understand what people can find in this mediocre movie to give it an average of 6.8/10... Seriously the movie is sad from beginning to end, it just does'nt leave a good general feeling, so unless you just feel like hanging yourself don't even bother renting it. Not that I'm only sold to typical happy endings, but in my opinion a movie needs to have a little twist or leave you with a little something to think about, this one just makes you feel depressed, and that's it. Why would I want to rent a movie that makes me feel that way? I was also very disappointed by Tom Cruise on this one for two reasons: -First, for being a big Tom Cruise fan, I found that he just doesn't seem to fit at all for this role, it's not like any other movie he's made. He's a good dramatic actor, but something just didn't feel right with this character.
-Secondly, his performance is very average, I didn't find him as convincing as he could have been, but then again with such a boring and depressing plot line, what could you expect.
Bottom line, don't even bother unless it's on TV and there's absolutely nothing else on..
Feed (2005)
Police officer?
OK, what kind of a weak cop is that ? I want to understand the bad guy is a complete wacko, but don't they have any sort of training in Australia? I mean he gets beaten up all along, backs up when the killer walks towards him, isn't he supposed to be able to deal with those situations? it takes him EVERYTHING at the end to get the upper end, but then when you think he's finally going to neutralize the killer, he turns into a psychopath himself and shoots the fat girl? what kind of a cop would do that? Also why just why would anybody in their right mind just go and eat the food that some random nut-job hands them? For all the reasons mentioned above, the main character just didn't seem fit at all as a police officer, and I just couldn't get attached to him so I think this is one of the main reasons why the movie didn't get to me that much. The rest of it had some good suspense and the maniac played a fairly convincing role. Also the movie is not afraid to show things as they are, so it has pretty raw material that can be disturbing but that was to be expected. But since some things just don't make sense, and the main character definitely isn't the best actor I've seen, I cant give it much more then an average rating. Still a good rent since it's different from the typical Hollywood police thrillers we're used to.
Breakdown (1997)
Excellent thriller
Nice typical 90's action/thriller movie, loved it from beginning to the end, definitely keeps you at the edge of your seat. Good actor play as well.
I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who likes the genre and Kurt Russel. The interesting thing is that on the contrary from his previous roles of gun-totting tough guys (Escape from L.A., Stargate, Tango&Cash) he just plays an ordinary guy caught in a trap by misfortune, which adds an interesting contrast.
The plot is pretty simple and straightforward with no unnecessary violence and stunts added, which makes it a nice light movie to watch if you feel like having your dose of suspense.
I am a little disappointed at the low rating (6.6), this movie delivers pretty well what it promises, and easely deserves at least 8/10.
