Superstore (2015–2021)

The series you didn't know you needed.

What can I say other than Superstore is awesome!

I found this series by chance on Netflix and I've gone on to watch all of the seasons over 3-4 months. I can give this no higher praise than it gives me real 'Friends' vibes.

It's funny, ridiculous and witty with loveable characters and some really meaningful storylines. I did not expect that when I randomly gave episode one a chance!

I think anyone looking for something easy to watch that will make you laugh out loud, this could be for you.

As soon as you know who the main characters are it's the kind of series you can drop in on any time any episode! It will be instantly enjoyable without being confused by the longer running themes and plots of the show.

Go watch it and thank me later 😊

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022– )

Bored of the Rings

I so wanted to love this series and I was intrigued & excited after episode one, but now, 50% through season one... oh dear.

The writing and story are so dull and the characters are developing awfully, generating little connection with the viewer.

Ignoring some of the divergence from Tolkien's Lore, I actually think most of the cast are likeable and the landscapes are awesome. However, as someone who's read and loved The Silmarillion, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, The Rings of Power pales in comparison.

If you love a good story or you want something that is a close reflection of Tolkien's work then this is probably not for you...

If you're simply happy to experience an excellent visual spectacle and some epic scenes of Elves charging about on horseback or Hobbits running across amazing landscapes then give it a whirl and make up your own mind.

I will continue to persevere as I am a big fan of the broader Tolkien universe, but if it wasn't for that I'd have given up!

The Grand Tour (2016–2024)

Getting better with time!

After a steady start with Seasons 1 & 2, the 3rd has really excelled in my opinion.

The features and specials are great, the humour is more natural and most of all it's great fun to watch!! The chemistry and banter between the 3 of them is much more evident in this latest instalment too.

It's worth noting that I did very much enjoy the first 2 seasons but I felt the show was still finding it's feet in terms of the format and what felt like over scripting at times.

Overall I love the show. I watched Top Gear with the 3 of them religiously and I love that The Grand Tour is here to fill the void!
