Volcano (1997)
Shockingly Cliché
A horrible mish mash of predictable story lines and toe-bendingly poor delivered PC clichés ad nauseam (races working together, the heroine being smart as well pretty, a guy sacrificing himself to save another life, a father/daughter relationship etc etc etc). The movie looks like something created for network television and should have probably stayed there. Even the gifted Tommy Lee Jones does not manage to salvage this BOMB. I urge you not to waste money or time on this cinematic ruin from the time when disaster-movies roamed Hollywood.
The two stars are given solely to the CGI-people and the PR-peoples' ability to get even one movie-goer to sit through it.
Min morfars morder (2004)
A valid comment
The film is about mercy and forgiveness. A documentary director (Søren Fauli) puts himself in the position of main character and makes a journey to Germany in order to forgive former SS-officer Søren Kam. Kam participated in killing Fauli's grandfather during the German occupation of Denmark in the late 1940s. The film is a well-crafted description of a physical journey to the heart Europe as well as a journey to the heart of the concept of mercy. In this way it is an important antidote (played out on a personal level) in the ever more present retaliation and 'an eye for an eye'-reality of today's political stage.
Casper & Mandrilaftalen (1999)
Kippers anyone?
Absolutely brilliant and ground breaking comedy from four of the most talented and bright comedians in Denmark. Lending elements from the pythonesque and then giving the screw another turn, this show leaves you rolling on the floor begging for more absurdities.
This show is in my cool book and deserves all the credit and gold it can eat.
