Left Behind (2000)
A Different view
All I can say on a different take is, I believe this film is a degradation of how our Creator God operates! Someone has totally misinterpreted the Word in writing the book and also producing this film. Hopefully true believers will know the real story!
Frank Nitti: The Enforcer (1988)
If you can't relate, don't comment
I've seen many stories and films about the mafia and the gangsters of the 1910'-1920's...this one of Frank Nitti was an eye opener! Superb directing and actors involved and story content was right to the heart of being real and who they were. One automatically thinks or hears "mafia" and goes bananas..but they have the same blue blood anyone else does til exposed to light and turns red...they have a heart too as portrayed so very well in this film. If this film rings true to life, then one has to see why Nitti became who he was, no doubt about it. He believed in the honour of his name and would not back down from being from Sicily. How many back then can say they cowardly cringed to reveal their true identity when brought forth against an adversary, how many today can say the same??? Remember, he came to America from the irons of opression, and what did he encounter when he got here, but double the opression he and his family already had suffered in Sicily! He became a Barber to make a living, a very lowly job but one in which he heard much as he listened more than he talked. He had a knack for philosophy, much like the old phisolophers of the BC days...his philosophy should go down in history not his notorious deeds he later administrated. His deeds became the ends to his brutality he suffered because of Who he was...that alone should be written in history. Much like what others that have been opressed in America...the Afro-americans, the women, those who sought to only want to have honour and stand tall, have a voice and be heard for themselves...even to the end like Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, the list could be endless if we talk about philsophy of why we are who we are. Why is it that those who stand for justice and honour die young, without honour they deserve...why do Americans fight amongst themselves? What is life all about if we all are a people of all races can not get along and live peacefully as one? Then I really do not understand, but we need such people to keep us motivated to believe in ourselves that each of us, as individuals do mean something and do have a place in America...don't we?
The Patriot (2000)
If you had a Revolutary War grand father, you will relate well to this welldone film.
My 4gx grandfather fought in the battles depicted in this well done film. I could see in my mind's eye what he had to go through and endure. this is so well done its like you are right there by his side. I've never seen Gibson performing so naturally...a film well worth seeing through the eyes of those brave and wondrous militia men that fought their war to America's Independence!
Benji the Hunted (1987)
Being exposed more for its due...
Truly truly remarkable filming ....would love to know how they got a male dog to cart around wild baby cougar kittens...totally fascinating! To see how they made this film would be awe inspiring! Many direct tv stations are now showing this film...its about time...the music alone is fantastic and right in rhythm with the events in the film. Benji is trained superbly!!...need more films like this....
The Boy in Blue (1986)
Fascinating true story of sculling
Found this to be a most fascinating film and a sport I wonder, if anyone does today?? Ned really had some fortitude to go forth and not be struck down by bullies, which obviously were in this profession back then. I believe he was awesome to become a Champion rower on 3 continents. Wonder if anyone in this class today can do as well? Its truly a workout to stay in shape for such competition. I believe Cage did an excellent job in this film even if he was only 22 years old!!
The Postman (1997)
Beautifully filmed with a stirring plot.
This film was made in my county. The cimetography was so well done of this beautiful country up here. Costner produces a film that is so awesome and believable, I found myself inside the movie itself. I could feel this could happen someday. Its one of the more real futuristic films that is believable I have ever seen. I laud him for doing such a superb job of belief and having the young kids makes it so much more interesting. I also thank him for his great hospitality while in our area and using so many of our folks here that wanted to just be in his film to be around him. He was/is a very gracious man from all reports I heard from friends and our folks were proud he chose our county for his film and did it so magnificently. thank you, Kevin!! you are our star!!
True Women (1997)
Well done true historical film
True Women is a very well done film. It is about my own ancestors. Sarah and Euphemia were my ggg grand aunts, being sisters to my ggg grandmother [who was not in the fim]...but she was on the runaway scrape. I was thrilled to view this film, among the tears. I so enjoyed this film of my ancestry history, I flew to Texas to Seguin, where the film was made, and went on the True Women tour. As a young girl I had even lived in Seguin, Tx in the 4-5th grades. I met Mrs. King, Janice Windle's mother, took rolls and rolls of film, but the biggest thrill was walking thru the Peach Creek home of Sarah. I could hear the echoes of my ancestors and I peeped thru the rifle slots and could see Tildie and Sarah hanging by their arms under the trees where the Indians had tied them. I heard the cries of their anquish and felt a tremor thru my body that only a bond of kinship could bring. I did a review on this film in my college Film class and got a 4. for it. I watch this film often as I bought it and the book. I await Janice's sequel, Hill Country, to be also made into a film. An excellent job was done in the making of this true historic and ancestry film of my ancestors. I commend the producers and the actress and actors who portrayed my loved ones from the past. thank you..Nena Smothers
