Barbie (2023)
I wanted to like it but, just didn't.
I looked forward to this movie. It looked with the set design and the storyline a lot of fun. However, I must say. I don't understand how it made the money that it did because I just couldn't like it even though I really want to.
It was too pretty to me it had an Agenda more, then entertainment Avenue.
I don't want to be preached to I want to be entertained and as far as Ryan. I don't get the hoopla about his performance. I'm sorry, but this film did not do it for me at all. And i'm glad I didn't spend money in the theater for it.
I didn't get a chance to see it in the theaters. I had to wait until it was on d. V. D and I heard so many things about it and they were confusing but I wanted to make my own mind up about it and I have to say even the rental of the d v d was the waste of my money and my time.
Prodigal Son (2019)
Watching it again and even Better 2nd time around.
It's 2024 and I thought, 'I loved this show, I'm going to watch it again'. I feel excitement and sorrow. Excited because I'm enjoying every second of every episode. Remembering how well it was written and how 'so many characters' are an absolute joy.
Sorrow that such an all around Excellent show only got 2 seasons. 😔
If I could bring back any show, it would be This one!
Great job all around from the creators, writers, production team to the marvelous casting and actors.
There is such a lack these days in really interesting shows and films and this is an example of putting out a hot flame way before its rime.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
What a waste of time and money
Nothing cool or original. Seems as if Gunn did this wasted and for a paycheck. What an awful way to send off a Great franchise. Leaning on all the things that made this arc cool, yet reducing it to a cheap quick payoff. No wonder Marvel is failing and this is a perfect example. What tripe.
I felt nothing from this, mote like cheated from the greatness it once was. What an utter disappointment.
There was nothing to feel here. Just like this review saying it's too short but, I have nothing more to say for this waste of space wannabe so, I have to write more when I don't want to waste anymore of my time.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Don't bother wasting your time.
Not much to say, it will be a waste of time, just like this film was. Hey Tom, stick with the acting, forget the writing and producing, it's NOT your strong points. Not even going to give Venom III a moment of attention after this one.
Something New (2006)
2022 Happened upon it and 'Really' Enjoyed it!
Not going to go deep on this, you can read all the 'intricate' details yet I will say, this is a 'Good Feel' watch that stimulates on several levels. First and foremost, it grabbed my attention and I couldn't stop watching and Glad I did. Good story, acting and writing about differences that find a common ground that's more powerful than all the standards around it. If you want a feel good film that also has a good message with good writing and acting along with some thought provoking subject matter as well as well the heart, then give this film a shot. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the ride, much appreciated.
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
Enjoy it every time I see it and, that's saying something.
Not a sophisticated review yet one from the heart of enjoyment more than the usual film aspects.
The characters and acting along with the story is fun yet has that from the bottom up, work hard for what you want, rags to riches, underdog to top dog yet in a manicured way. It feels good yet structured well and the actors, perfect fits.
Coming from a man that enjoys manly things, this is a touching story well crafted and paced that will serve the male and female in all of us. Very well done. Take the time....bet you'll like it.
Bug (2006)
I'm LESS for watching this
This was interesting yet overall, another reason why I don't want to watch movies. Very Disturbing. Sorry... better things in life to do with my time.
Santa Inc. (2021)
I tried yet, couldn't get through it . Appalling.
I want to be 'Entertained' and can be on so many levels however this was not centered in entertainment yet seemingly an attack cloaked as comedy and, it wasn't even funny.
STICK with the premise this industry is about and that's 'Entertainment'. Not personal, spiritual or political bias that loses all basics... entertainment.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2021)
Waste of Time
So sick of the same ol same ol and this is just more of it. I'm out.
Equilibrium (2002)
19 Years later and even BETTER and REVEALING now than before.
To start, the only bad thing about this film was picking Taye Diggs. He showed emotion constantly and should have been replaced with someone else.
That aside, what a cryptic telling film.
You can look at this today and in a political sense, the left, democrats are the controllers. Those that demand obedience to no feelings, no freedom, no free thought.
And the American way is the Resistance to it's conformity.
Bale did an Excellent job and the script and direction was and 'still is' relevant today.
Films are stories yet, this one tells far more than just a film.
Watch it.....see the horrors of 'conformity' and the Freedom of individuality.
Two for the Money (2005)
A Good Watch, better than one would expect.
Came across this film and, due especially Pacino, it was an an interesting watch. So much, I couldn't turn the channel and 'that' says something. And glad I didn't.
A good story, the actors did a good job yet, Pacino was the main attraction. He brought that character and this film really to life while all the rest added well to it.
Well written, acted, directed so.... it keeps your attention weather you're into sports or not. Well Done. Too bad many of the films today don't delve down to the mechanics of good story telling like this one did.
After Earth (2013)
What a Waste of Time. Nepotism Failure is exampled here.
What a Waste of time. Not only was the acting Horribly embarrassing, the fact that 'daddy' pushed this $130 million Waste shows....box office power doesn't always mean good movies, certainly NOT in this. What an Embarrassment.
Thanks for the Waste of Time.
And what a Dope the son has turned out to be.
Hey Will... shut up and Act.
The Quick and the Dead (1995)
Actually WATCH the film and you Will Appreciate it. Good Stuff on may levels!
The actors did a Great job. My favorite showing of Stone, Hackman was Excellent and Rami did a GREAT job with this film.
I've watched this film 'many times' and it get's better with each watch.
The story is compelling, the actors brought the characters so much Richness. The 'details' are shown more with every watch.
I Really appreciate this film and the more any real film lover watches it, they will see how Great it is with every watch.
Prodigal Son: The Last Weekend (2021)
Great episode and series yet died far too young.
This was a really good episode. Showed the strengths of most of the characters, had an understandable ending however, it still does leave a space for it to continue IF someone SMART would pick it up and keep it going.
It's not often, especially these days, that I find a show I really cling on too and look forward too. It had humor, drama, Great characters and an abundance of them, terrific writing yet, it seems FOX tv is notorious for screwing with schedules of good shows then dropping them like good is bad for them, how Moronic. Being bought by crap Disney didn't even change that.
Well FOX...I'll think 3 times before I EVER get invested in one of your tv shows because you have a habit of pushing for the crap while neglecting the fruit.
Now.....go F yourselves.
Anna (2019)
Switching channels it grabbed me and wouldn't let go, very enjoyable.
Like any story, sit back and let it take you for a ride. Too many focus on how the carpet is flying instead of just fly along and it ruins their ride.
Story took several smart twists and turns I didn't expect and it kept me focused intently. Helen did a great job as usual and the lead was captivating and quietly realistic. Luc did a good job on the story directing and casting. Far better and more sophisticated than Salt and others, I was pleasantly surprised, thanks for the enjoyable ride.
A Bad Moms Christmas (2017)
This was actually Funny!
I just happened across this and honestly, it grabbed my attention and was a funny flick! Not an academy type film yet I found it Fun and Funny, well done.
The Proposal (2009)
12 years later and still makes me laugh and cry
I just watched this again and, it moved me like it did the first time I saw it. Funny, chemistry, somewhat typical yet fun and enjoyable. What more can you ask for? Sure it may be a bit formulaic yet it still works and, if you've got a soft spot for romance, enjoy comedy and some decent writing, then you will enjoy this for sure. I admit, I have a soft spot for Sandra as my 'girl next door' and Ryan as the hunk I'd like if I was 'that way' and with them both together it makes for an interesting ride yet, as a film, it's well written, casting is terrific and this really works as an exceptional rom-com. When something holds up to the test of time, it shows really how well it's crafted. ENJOY!
Spy (2015)
Sorry I missed it, this was funny and enjoyable.
Just go along and have some Fun with it. The writing works well with some really funny one liners and the placement and execution are very well done. Melissa did a very good job in delivery, I have to look at more of what she's done so, put your thinking caps 'off' and just enjoy this. I did and will look forward to the 2nd installment though I'm not a fan of them and, they usually Suck. Good job on all, it was a fun ride.
Gilda (1946)
Flipping channels I caught it and for some reason, couldn't let go.
All kinds of metrics to critique a film by yet one important one, does it pull you in and take you along for the ride. This one does.
It's 2021 and not my typical film to set out to watch yet glad I stumbled upon it. The style, acting or over acting was such a pleasure to watch for a change. The honesty without the PC and abrasiveness was refreshing and, I finally got to see why Rita Hayworth was such a hit. Very familiar with Glenn Ford yet first time I've seen her in a film other than her referenced in one of my All time favorites...Shawshank Redemption.
I've haven't watched classics for a lot of years. Now I understand better why this generation is listening to 'records' again.
Oh, excuse me, another noir film is coming on, think I'll give this table a spin too.
The Greg Gutfeld Show (2015)
The funniest current events/policical/social show on air. Puts SNL to Shame!
Greg is a funny, free wheeling barrel of quirky laughs. If you think SNL is funny, then you're still in the 80's and drunk! No wonder his show beats all in the weekend ratings as well as more. IF you're a partisan hack with no sense of humor, then you'll probably not even give it a spin yet...if you like 'funny' no matter where it comes from that pokes all holes, then you will make this a staple in your viewing diet and get funny fat. Greg has a couple of regular guests and changes the other two with a variety from comedians to musicians. IF you dare to laugh, then I dare you to give Gutfeld's show a spin and I bet after a couple of turns you'll be doing circle jerks each and every week. Don't let the Fox name fool you my fellow Hollywoodites, this is some Good Schiff!
Unbroken (2014)
Great Story...Weakly told
If given some of the worlds most incredible ingredients to make a meal, why would anyone instead choose to make a ground beef burger? Well,Angelina Jolie and the Coen brothers did just that!
There is so much to this story yet so much is not only left out, yet not told nearly to the caliber it should and could have been. Instead I found myself looking at my watch, hoping for more to be revealed yet the gifted storytelling done in the book and needed here was simply not in the hands of those it needed to be.
I'd hope that someone more talented would have done this, in fact I wish it could be redone however that's not going to happen, sadly.
What an opportunity, wasted.
Snowpiercer (2013)
A Far Better ride than expected....
If you ever doubted you could find a SciFi, action flick full of drama and suspense that was artfully written, wonderfully acted, smartly paced and visually dazzling.... I bet this one is just that.
I'd known nothing of this story prior to seeing the film so I'm not sure if it was an advantage or disadvantage, however either way, I found myself carried along for the ride in suspense and wonder of what the next turn would bring. And how a film can place you on a train yet throughout still capture your every minute with such a grip, was quite surprising to me. A Pleasant surprise indeed.
Though a couple of plot lines that seemed a bit, questioning or underdeveloped, and might leave you with a question here or there, this train speeds you along brilliantly on all cylinders for a trip you will soon not forget.
Breaking Bad: Abiquiu (2010)
Character Re-development.... disturbing
Three main disappointments regarding this episode.
First, Jesse willingly trying to get a girl, freshly in rehab, back on The Blue simply to sell? I find it implausible for his character especially after all that transpired with his last girlfriend, her death. The heavy emotional impact it caused him, even to the point of Jesse getting and staying clean. Seems so against what the character went through and still hold value to with staying clean.
Then a cheap grab for character salvation, Jesse finds ethics when he found she has a young boy? I understand his 'somewhat' of a connection to the two meth head's son episodes back. Yet we're supposed to find this a saving grace yet be mind absent of the real drive, aiding someone he loves to not only go back to drug use yet become a part of it even to her death?
Second, the fact that 'supposed' street smart strong guy Mr. White let's his 'wife' take the reigns and become involved in the business? Come on! And to introduce her to his lawyer/accomplice? After all the 'threatening' she did to him? Not to mention the fact he's letting her get even further involved, the woman/family he values most over everything?
I find it out of character for Walter and believe it's possibly a cheap way only to insert more drama. I believe it strays strongly from the character that has already been built. Yes, Walter vacillates from meek family man to street smart cook, however taking in account the changes Walter has made in strength toward his street side
.not plausible. Like erasing the growth Walter has developed, suddenly bringing him back to his Clark Kent.
And as well for Skylar. She wanted 'Nothing' to do with Walter. Throwing him out, calling the police, the threats, keeping him from his children, spilling her guts to a lawyer, the fear and disdain she has for all he's involved in. Then 'suddenly' becoming 'Bonny' to Walt's Clyde, wanting to be 'included' up to her eyeballs, giving only a weak excuse of wanting clean money for her sister? Oh please. For her to do a 180 from all of that to wanting to be not only informed yet to suggest 'she' be a part of the financial dealings? For me, a weak and un-inventive story change simply to introduce drama.
A disappointment and contrary to Walter's character, Jesse's 'and' to Skylar's as well.
Disappointing indeed.
Breaking Bad: Fly (2010)
What a Booooore.....
Say what you will, and I'll say mine.
Seemed to me either they tried to be cool with this one and came up 'waaaay' short, of they had absolutely nothing to produce or something happened on the way from the writers room to production, yet either way, this episode was a total bore to me.
And don't try the 'oh, you just don't get it' or, 'you just don't think deep enough'. What-ever. I do, I like me some simplicity to total physiological mind boning. However this episode what simply, a real disappointment and not even just being boring, there wasn't a relative take away from it.
Again, whatever the reason, I don't know. Yet it's a fact I didn't like it and I dig this show.
Covert Affairs: What Is and What Should Never Be (2010)
First episode seen... how Corny and unbelievable
This is the first episode I've watched of this show and just from it, I 'cannot' believe this got a second season, Wow!
Of course I'll give it a couple more episodes cause I like to be clearly fair yet...
The product placement stood out like a sore thumb for one. How egregious.
The main character is obviously supposed to be some talented agent or so, yet I find this character totally unbelievable in all aspects.
Her jumping from boat to boat was so 70's in unbelief. The whole art warehouse scene lacked any 'real' feel to it and again, so unbelievable. The security guards response in the warehouse was so flat and again, unbelievable. The reaction she and the FBI agent had when going out the door to find a security guard dead was so...(sorry) 'Unbelievable' You find a dead guard and you don't even look around, draw your weapon, take cover....? I mean, Come On!
This episode 'really' reminded me of a bad 70's style show with no realism, corny through and through. Seems they fixate on the leads good looking face and the rest of it... Eh, we need no smart, no substance, just a big white smile. Ugh!
I will give it 2 more episodes for a better evaluation however so far... so shallow, unreal and.... unbelievable.
