The Seventh Scroll (1999)
Great pictures, but the acting...
This one looks great! Great costumes, great photography, especially the Ancient Egypt shots are great. But that's it... The actors are really bad... The kid is maybe the worst. The criminals in the opening scenes with the car are from Police Academy or a Bud Spencer movie or something. They look like they don't fit this story at all. Or is it a comedy? And even if it was it is not a good one!
Roy Schneider (Blue Thunder!) is the only one here who can act and that tells everything. I bought the DVD without knowing what I would get, it just looked great on the cover. But this is not worth the money.
Domestic Disturbance (2001)
Predictable
This must be one of the most predictable movies I have ever seen! After 10 minutes or so I could tell how the plot would develope and how the movie would end... Why tell the viewer so early in the movie about the past of the stepfather?
It is full of bad acting (son, mother and stepfather) and what is Travolta doing in such a b-movie? Well, I suppose acting bad himself. John, I hope you get some better scripts to choose from or you will be history soon.
Gangs of New York (2002)
Not as good as i thought
Let me tell you first that it LOOKS great. It has some great sights over the city and everything just looks genuine. But the story is really hard to follow. They just tried to put too much into it. There are a lot of scenes that don't have anything to do with the story. A few is o.k. ofcourse, but this movie is loaded with such scenes. It's just too much and that's why it takes so long. It gets boring now and then. And why is Daniel Day Lewis so hard to understand when he speaks? I am not a fan of DiCaprio and seeing this movies makes me understand why. Not convincing at all. Really a waste of such good photography, costumes and make-up.
Get Shorty (1995)
Just not good enough with so many top actors
It's sometimes funny, specially some dialogues. But overall it didn't really grab me. We get John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo and even James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano with beard!) but it's just not that. OK, the plot is nicely done. With the actual movie going together with the making of the movie by Travolta and Hackman. And there are some good scenes like the one were Travolta gives Danny DeVito acting lessons in how to look mean. But mainly that's it. I think they could have done more with such a top cast. 5 out of 10.
Babylon 5: In the Beginning (1998)
Lots of things get clear!
Very nice to see how all things happened during the Earth-Minbari War. Lots of things are clear after seeing this movie. I saw the complete series of Babylon 5 before seeing this movie. In the series there's a lot of talk about the war, about what Sheridan did in the war, why was it stopped so strangely, what has Sinclair with this early story? You get all the answers! Great movie!
The Agency: The Agency (2001)
Realistic, I think...
There's not a moment in this show, were you go 'Yeah, right..' I mean, that you can actually think that all this can happen and even does happen. Even the action-scenes are very realistic. Great acting, I specially like Paige Turco as Terri Powell.
The Lost Battalion (2001)
Great!
Never saw a war-movie that was as good as this one and NOT a WWII movie. It has much of Saving Private Ryan and Band Of Brothers, but this one is even more intense and not about WWII but it's about a piece of bravery in WWI.
Very strong acting from Rick Schroder. The Germans in this movie actually speak German! And then this is a TV-Movie!?!? What if the budget was like the one of SPR of BOB? Go buy or rent it!
