1941 (1979)
If you don't like this movie, you have other problems!!
First, This movie is well made. even the things that would be easy to mess up are right on, the clothes, the cars, the situations, the fact that there was an incredible amount of hysteria on the west coast in the month of December in 1941. The fact that the US Army took one look at itself and went Uh-Oh, we don't have a lot of people.
Everything about the movie is Funny to Da Max. Robert Stack watching Dumbo, The songs and dancing, Wendy Sperber screaming Stretch!! The bomb rolling across the AOA at the airport, The Jap sub sinking the Ferris Wheel, the tank going through the paint factory, the anti-aircraft guns firing in downtown L.A. This is all California-esquire, to the 10th power. John Belushi reading a roadmap with the cockpit of his P40 open, flying at 10,000 feet. Everything about it, should make even comedically challenged numbskulls laugh.
But, that's why we have red hats and green hats, everybody is different. The other thing we have to keep in mind, there are those people out there that would complain about being hung with a new rope. "It's chafing my neck!!" Just wait a second!.
Sahara (1943)
I was born with this movie.
I first started watching this movie in 1954. I was 9. Everything about it, even from a screen not much more area than a paperback. I have liked this movie. I've probably seen it 100 times. The big effort you must face, is imagine seeing this movie in 1943. Talk about bleak. this is a class A, Profile One, propaganda special. This movie was made in order to increase the war effort at home, in the USA and to increase the enlistments in the service. There are no women in this movie, unless you count the tank, Lulubelle, and the guys are crawlin all over her. But she doesn't complain. This movie is not that long, there's nothing intricate in it. But the speeches made by Joe Gunn, Stegman, and Giuseppe, pretty much sum up what it was going to take to win. Lots of people were gonna die. Also if you look at it from the standpoint of Practical usage of talent and each soldier used to his most outstanding quality. This is not only a recruiting wonder, this is a motivational movie for mid management and for strategic thinkers. If you mind the little things, the big things, get in line. Watch it and be thankful for the Greatest Generation, no foolin.
Enough (2002)
I watched the movie "Enough" yesterday, Jan.28,05, twice! I liked it.
Anyone that thinks a universal problem like violence in the home, should cause a cessation of movies that depict that subject, has poi for brains. If it wasn't for a number of deaths of women, and laws enacted to save battered women, the problem would be worse. But, even with the existing laws, there is a continual rise of violence in the home. Ask any cop on the planet, the worse call they answer is " A&B in a household by a family member" Why? they don't know what they are going into. The movie "Enough" was well done, Jennifer Lopez did a better than good job. The fact that 18-29 year old guys don't like it, Oh boy, there's a surprise!!. they know if they cross the line with their girl friend, they not only, not get some anymore,They may get their ass kicked by the girlfriend they beat up. This movie is a good learning tool for that group. The case of violence on women is perpetuated, by the supposed lessons they have learned in their own home. If their mom's put dad's lights out with an aluminum frying pan, Junior wouldn't think slapping girls around was such a rush. Walk a mile in their shoes, then tell us "Enough" already.
