Now, I first read the books some 30 years ago when I was around 9 years old. The books drew me closer to Jesus than any religious class did! I was anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. I was somewhat apprehensive because I was worried that the movie would deviate drastically from the book and also how Aslan was going to be portrayed. There is still a childish part of me that hopes that if I am blessed enough to go to Heaven, Aslan will be the first person I see and I would be able to run my hands through his mane. Well, my apprehensions were for naught! THIS MOVIE IS EXCELLENT!!! I TOTALLY BELIEVED that the ASLAN on the screen was the ASLAN from my childhood. Plus the casting of all the children, but Lucy in particular, was SUPERB!!!
I really hope that people don't get too caught up in the religious theme of this movie. If you are Christian and it appeals to you on a religious plane (like me), then fine. If you are another faith and you like the movie for the adventurous plot, then fine. To have arguments of faith that I have seen here (the name calling on the message boards), has nothing to do with the spirit of the movie or the books. If one has read The Last Battle, one must remember that Aslan explained that he was taking a Calormene into the Eternal Narnia because the Calormene was truer to his version of God, then some Narnians' were to Aslan.
THE ONE THING I MUST SAY TO PARENTS: I was actually surprised how violent this movie actually was. It had its place, but I don't know if little kids will be able to handle it.
Bring on The Magician's Nephew or Prince Caspian!!!
