This is one older Catholic woman who LOVED this movie!

Now, I first read the books some 30 years ago when I was around 9 years old. The books drew me closer to Jesus than any religious class did! I was anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. I was somewhat apprehensive because I was worried that the movie would deviate drastically from the book and also how Aslan was going to be portrayed. There is still a childish part of me that hopes that if I am blessed enough to go to Heaven, Aslan will be the first person I see and I would be able to run my hands through his mane. Well, my apprehensions were for naught! THIS MOVIE IS EXCELLENT!!! I TOTALLY BELIEVED that the ASLAN on the screen was the ASLAN from my childhood. Plus the casting of all the children, but Lucy in particular, was SUPERB!!!

I really hope that people don't get too caught up in the religious theme of this movie. If you are Christian and it appeals to you on a religious plane (like me), then fine. If you are another faith and you like the movie for the adventurous plot, then fine. To have arguments of faith that I have seen here (the name calling on the message boards), has nothing to do with the spirit of the movie or the books. If one has read The Last Battle, one must remember that Aslan explained that he was taking a Calormene into the Eternal Narnia because the Calormene was truer to his version of God, then some Narnians' were to Aslan.

THE ONE THING I MUST SAY TO PARENTS: I was actually surprised how violent this movie actually was. It had its place, but I don't know if little kids will be able to handle it.

Bring on The Magician's Nephew or Prince Caspian!!!

Simply Awe-Inspiring!!!

I totally agree with what smig1 said and will not repeat it again, for it is exactly how I feel and what I would have written.

When the Oscars aired and Gwyneth Paltrow won for best actress I was just stunned and so mad for Kate Blanchett! Because I live in NYC and see stars on a somewhat regular basis, I have said to all of my friends that if I see two actors on the street I would walk up to them and tell them that if I had an Academy Award I would give it to them because they were robbed: the first is Cate for this movie (I just love how she has mastered her craft that I might have to give her two!) and Joaquin Phoenix for Gladiator (You just got to love the scene where he sticks out his tongue during one of the fight scenes).

Finally, I will add that the final minutes of this movie were just magnificently done!

Who let this movie air?
22 December 2001
I am a lover of MC Hammer, which as a New Yorker seems to be an oddity! Seeing him in concert was a totally electrifying experience, tied only with seeing Janet Jackson. Did the creators of this movie happen to see him in concert? I don't think they did!! The lead did not look, sound, nor especially dance like Hammer. Although I like for myself and others to watch this type of behind the scenes movie so that we can glean inspiration to follow our dreams, this movie did nothing but bore me and make me laugh at the period hair pieces. Sorry to disappoint any MC Hammer fan who was looking for an excellent multi-faceted movie.
