Black Hawk Down (2001)
THEY LEFT STUFF OUT!!!
I have not seen this movie yet, but I have read a good deal about the events it portrays. I have read that the author's original notes included stories of the americans killing unarmed men, women, and children. one of the soldiers is in a military prison for raping a 12 year old. they shot a guy in the head for praying, and a woman for screaming. brave? patriotic? i think not.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Spectacular, with some "subliminable" religious commentary?
I walked out of this movie with the score stuck in my head. I went looking for it like a crackfiend for well...crack. to my dismay its not out until Tuesday. This is by no means a childrens movie, and i think almost all of it (save for Teddy) would be lost on a child. I haven't seen anyone mention religion yet, so here i go: I found this film, with its "BFairy" and "flesh fair" to be in a way representative of christianity. but thats just me. (see the movie to find out for yourself.) this film is great, with little suspensful twists that you wouldnt see coming from a mile away. this world is the coolest since Back to the Future II. And waaaaaay cooler. Osment should get Best Actor, and Law Best Supporting Actor. I love his radio thing!! But what would be the greatest would be if Teddy got Best Supporting Actor! "I will break!" This movie was frightening and funny and sad and long. But so what? I have seen tons of complaints over the third act, but i found it to be a fresh, however bizarre, way to end the story. The whole concept of...well just see it!
The Dark Crystal (1982)
Muppet Renaissance
This is one of the coolest fantasy movies I have ever seen! When I saw this, it had been awhile since I last saw a Muppet movie. I was reminded of Fraggle Rock, and I looked forward to the Lord of the Rings. Although it is classified as a kid movie, I would think twice about showing this to toddlers. The Skeksies would have scared me to death, as would have the beetle guys and Mystics. Great movie, great score. Epic. Epic. Epic. 10/10
Wonder Boys (2000)
Why wasn't this nominated for best picture?
Why wasn't this nominated for best picture? This movie was outstanding. It has expertly woven comedy mixed with bizarre plot twists that kept me from knowing what would happen next. This blows "Finding Forrester" out of the water. Seeing Tobey Maguire watch old movies while "under the influence" had me rolling! Why wasn't this picture nominated for best picture??
The Green Mile (1999)
One of the Greats
Rarely do I feel such love and hatred when I view a film, but this movie made an exception. Extremely good and worth renting, I now understand why it received so many accolades. Rent it and you'll see what I mean.
Shin seiki Evangelion Gekijô-ban: Shito shinsei (1997)
AMAZING
this is the best anime you will ever see. if you havent seen it, you cannot call yourself a true fan of the genre. this film is 13hrs. 13hrs of drama, action, and intelligent plot. giant weapons and monsters, a penguin, and one helluva soundtrack, this epic is truly worthy of everything it gets.
The Patriot (2000)
Who doesn't want to see this movie??
Mel Gibson has done it again. He must love being in another huge, gory, emotional, war epic. I have seen Braveheart and, while some might disagree, I enjoyed this movie much much more. I am only 14, but I was good enough to convince my mother to take myself and my 16YO brother to see this excellent cinematic work. The writing was excellent, the cast was brilliant, the battles were breathtaking. I appreciate how this movie shows the war in a way many don't think about. It makes us appreciate even more what those brave men (and boys) fought for. It is a big screen movie if you ask me, so catch it while its in theaters. You won't regret it.
