Dust to Glory (2005)
Brings the Baja to Live
To me this movie had more passion that almost any movie I had seen, especially in a documentary. This movie truly showed that the Baja Race wasn't about anything, but passion and love of family and pushing yourself to that ultimate limit. The cinematography in this movie, like Dana's previous film, (stepping into liquid) was amazing. It truly made me feel as if I was watching/inside of the Baja race. It was as if I could taste the sand in my teeth as they were riding through the silt beds and I can smell the ocean breeze when they were skidding along the beaches.
I knew little to nothing about the Baja Race, but coming away from this movie I am in awe of the passion and the love of something so intense that you are willing to risk your life for it. There isn't a lot of people out there that would do this, not only entering into a competition, but also watching it.
I would recommend this movie to anyone that gets an opportunity or a glimpse of this awe-inspiring movie.
Sin City (2005)
Most Beautifully Shot Movie EVER !
This movie didn't just look stunning, it was stunning. The visual effects in this movie weren't just for show, like in Sky Captain, they were in addition to a great script and one of the greatest cast of characters to be put together in a long time. The actors may not get as much screen time as in a par average Hollywood flick, but this movie is definitely not average for anything coming out of Hollywood these days. It is far above average of anything I have seen in a while. It was very reminiscent of Dick Tracy combined with the video game Max Payne, and maybe a little Kill Bill esqueness in there. As you can tell I not only like this movie, but it thrilled me in every way possible being a man, not only does it have beautiful women and violence to go along with, but also has a great story line and something very different, which is always better then the same lame game that Hollywood tries to throw at us each week at the box office, it was a refreshing flick that I am going to see again, which is something I rarely say and this time I really mean it !
Black Cloud (2004)
EXCELLENT, INSPIRATIONAL, and Outstanding!
I just saw Black Cloud today at the Phoenix Film Festival at it's world premiere. This was by far the best film at the festival. I absolutely loved it and enjoyed every minute of it. It is truly an inspirational film for the entire family.
A film that was truly about people, about real people. The almost entire Native American cast did an outstanding job on this film. I wasn't expecting much from this film but came away with a lot. If you have the chance to see this film definitely see it. One of the best films I have seen so far this year, in this festival, but also outside of the festival as well. LOVED IT !
You Got Nothin' (2002)
You Got Nothing certainly has something...
I just saw this film at Phoenix Film Festival. You Got Nothing certainly has something... It was definitely the funniest film that I have seen this year so far. The actors did a superb job at acting. This was a funny movie, that truly brought out true real characters.
The two main actors also both wrote the movie, which was very unique and Joey also directed it. After the film at the festival there was a Q and A and it was funny to see how well the two main actors got along and I think it really showed in their performances on screen. It reminded me some of Jon Faverau's MADE, but with a lot less blood and shall I say a little funnier.
The film looked great and it was so well edited and put together it truly looked like a high budget film, it was shot in High Definition and look superb. The score/soundtrack was great, I loved it! I certainly hope that this film can get released to more screens!
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
The controversy, the arguments, the anti-semitism, who killed Christ?, everything about this movie was all blahh to me after I saw the first few minutes of this film.
The controversy, the arguments, the anti-semitism, who killed Christ?, everything about this movie was all blahh to me after I saw the first minute of this film. It all just fazed away into nothingness. As the movie opens in the garden of Gethsemane, as Jesus is praying to his Father about what he was about to endure.
I can't say enough or anything about this film really. You can just feel the passion of Jesus Christ and his love for us all throughout this film. As Christians, we believe that Jesus wasn't killed by the Jews or by the Romans or by anyone, but he in turn let himself die for us. That is what this film centers around is everything that Jesus went through, all the brutal, emotional terror that he had to endure for us, he did it, so that we may live for eternity.
This movie, brought me to tears, so many times that I can't even count for you, just to see my saviour, my God, lay down his life for us, but just not lay it down, but to be whipped, chained, beaten, mutilated, words cannot even begin to bring a picture to what he had to go through. This film is raw, it is intense, it is brutal, but I would encourage everyone to go see this movie. I guarentee that it will leave you with more passion and emotion, then any other movie ever will.
The acting in this movie was superb. The entire movie was spoken in Greek/Arabaic. I was impressed at how well this came off... Even having to read subtitles, you can feel the raw intensity and emotion from the actors/actresses, throughout the film. I had the feeling that I was watching this all take place before my eyes. This film is one that will probably one of the most critique films of the year, if not of the decade. Because of what this story means to a lot of people throughout the world. People that hadn't even seen this film, I heard speaking out against it, which is just ridiculous in my mind. Go see it then tell me what you feel about it.
The cinematography, Set Design, and Costumes made this film look even more amazing. Mel Gibson, who directed, produced, and majorly funded this film did a great job. His vision for the film and everything, truly looked and felt amazing.
This movie had heart, passion, love and so many other things. I have heard this story, probably told more then any other, throughout my entire life, but seeing it actually played out before me was somewhat brutal and raw, but on the other hand it just shows the passion and love that Jesus had for us to be able to endure every step. I just wanted to cry out and yell as I saw Jesus beaten and skin ripped off of his body, see the blood squirt up as he is nailed to the cross. To know what he went through and to see this in front of visually for the first time in a raw sort of way, was something that I just can't describe to you, you will just have to go see it for yourself. (9.3/10)
Paradise Hotel (2003)
Addictive! Watch OUT!
This show is addicting. Once you watch it, you will never be able to get away again. You get so caught up in these people's lives on the show, that you start caring about them more than your friends and family and your family dog, will die, because you will forget to feed it, because this show is soo addictive. Well maybe not that much, but it is fun to watch adults act like they are ten years old again and to watch these people make out on live television and the girls are great eye candy, as well.
Legends of the Fall (1994)
One of my Top 10 Favorites
I may only be twenty-one years old, but I have seen thousands of movies and this movie has brought its place into my top ten films ever. The script and screenplay for this film are as heart-wrenching as they come. Legends of the Falls is placed in Montana in the early 1900's, it is the story of three brothers and their true love for one another. This film is a must see and I have no idea, why the ratings on imdb.com are soo low, but take my word for it, if you don't cry and are touched by this movie, there must be something wrong with you.

High Fidelity (2000)
High Fidelity is stunningly great !
Wow!
That is the word that first came to mind after watching this movie for the first time. When renting this movie, I never in my wildest dreams thought that this would be rated with a "9"! I didn't expect such a dramatic but yet comedic life of a guy that is like almost every other guy. A guy (John Cusack) that is looking for that perfect girl, but never seems to find her no matter how many women he goes through, but then he realizes that he has the perfect woman and it is already too late. Yes, this movie is crafted around music and the love of it, but the greatest thing I got out of watching this movie was look at something you have and really take a look at how special it or they really are, before it is too late to get it back.
