Rarg (1988)
a great little film with some extremely trippy moments
This is one of those films that is great for kids to watch but would also appeal to that group of adults who like to watch the trippy bits in Dangermouse and the Magic Roundabout. It is extremely well animated and voiced. The plot revolves about the kingdom of Rarg which the chief scientists discover that Rarg is in fact someone's dream and that soon the person dreaming will wake up. So they try their best to stop him waking up. Its one of my favourite animated features (puts Disney to shame - but then what doesn't) worth 10 *s any day of the week.
An Interview with Dennis Potter (1994)
A moving interview
You can not fail to be moved by this interview with one of the greatest screenwriters of our times. Melvyn Bragg (Now Lord Bragg) interviewed Dennis Potter in the last few weeks of his life. The interview is punctuated by obvious moments of Dennis' pain in which he swigs from a hip flask of drugs to releive it. He discusses his last works, Kareoke, (the story of a dying screenwriter who's screenplay is becoming real) and it's companion piece, Cold Lazarus (the dead screenwriter's head is reanimated in the future in order to extract memories).
It is fascinating to see how he feels about these obviously very personal pieces.
