Forgiving the Franklins (2006)
Take the religious message away, and you're left with little
This film seems to rely heavily upon shock-value nudity and sexual situations to get its message across, which is what seems to make it a winner for some.
Take those away, though, and you're left with a poorly acted grainy film with flat dialog that spends far too long trying to convey its simple religious message. Characters seemed to lack passion in their lines, and a connection to each other, instead delivering lines flatly without snappiness in the timing giving it the slow feeling of a Lynch movie without the directive flair.
If you're a nudist, then you might find this film particularly enjoyable for its message about the human body.
Then She Found Me (2007)
Another movie by-the-numbers
Unfortunately, this is a very predictable movie, one that has a paint-by-number script. As she is a new director, I tried to give this film the benefit of the doubt, but alas it failed to offer anything particularly unique in the story line.
If you are seeking a formulaic movie about a religious Jewish woman past her reproductive prime seeking to become pregnant, then you are likely to enjoy this film as it does expound on some of the issues that might come up.
Also, at one point a character (her husband) simply disappeared with little fanfare when earlier in the film he had been the subject of much discussion.
I concur with one other reviewer that the first half is definitely better than the second.
