West Side Story (2021)
One view is not enough to appreciate all the details
First of all is not a remake of the '61's one because Kushner reimagined the story adding a lot of background.
I recommend watching it a second time AFTER watching the interviews and the making of, at that point you can really appreciate the small details, the superb cinematography, the outstanding performance of these incredible artists who can act, sing and dance.
I can hardly think of another movie where dancing is blending so well with the action, dance numbers are not something "extra" that you must add because it's a musical, they really fit well with the development of the story.
And the fact we can still have a movie with Bernstein'e music in the XXI century is a blessing.
Roma (1972)
Yet another Fellini's masterpiece
Everything is revolving around Rome in this movie, its beauty, its decadence, its history, its inhabitants, seen with the eyes of our magnificent Maestro: Fellini. The scene of the war-period theatre is one of the funniest of the whole history of cinema and no subtitle can render it in a proper way, you should live in Rome for years to fully appreciate the dialogues. It's worth seeing for the countless characteristic "faces" that Fellini was used to employ for his movies, giving that special taste to his works we are still call "fellinian" nowadays.
The Matrix (1999)
What a farce!
I went to the cinema expecting to see a spectacular movie, filled with stunning special effects and (at least) a decent plot and I got a boring tale about a certain Neo, where God only knows why he must be a hacker (he could well have been a pony express clerk or a plumber as far as the the story is concerned). The dialogues are slow paced, mostly idiotic, and the performance of Reeves is said to be one of his best just because he remains quiet most of the time. In the end I don't understand what the hype around it is all about. Much ado for nothing.
West and Soda (1965)
The funniest parody of western ever made
I don't need to spend many words in praise of this work. Just watch it and enjoy the countless wits and funny situations which make this movie unique and delightful to see even 30 years after its release. Bozzetto shows you how to create a master-work out of good ideas and little money. Clearly this is a cartoon aimed to adults for its humor based on mocking "western" stereotypes, something that requires at least some knowledge of the matter. Definitely a cult movie.
