The Feminist and the Fuzz (1971)
A very funny movie with most of beautiful Barbara very visible.Enjoyable.
This movie is funny in the extreme. Barbara Eden and David Hartman Barbara Eden play their parts perfectly. I especially enjoyed the fun at the night club and the scene with Jerry (David Hartman) carrying Jane Bowers (Barbara Eden) out and putting her in the police car as his girl friend (Farah Fawcet) watched. Also the scene where Jo Ann Worley clobbers David Harman with Karate chops. The scenes with Jo Ann Worly as the head man hater, were extremely funny . Also the parts with the nosy irritable, ornery landlord added to the fun. It is too bad that these movies are not presented on TV more often. So what if they are dated. They are funny even in these disturbing times.
The Girls in the Office (1979)
Wonderful Tale of Intrigue and Love In the Business Place
In this tale three women come to work in a large department store run by a kindly old gentlemen. The store which already has a male "Shark" is enriched by a new female "Shark" , Rita Massaro (played by Susan St James). Her vicious unscrupulous manipulations of events and people in the office lead, eventually, to her own downfall, romantically. One of her victims is Lee Rawlins, as the office manager, who does her job, reconciling strife between workers and supervisors. Meanwhile she has her own romance proceeding with Beau Galloway (Joe Penney). The acting by Barbara Eden, Susan St. James, and Joe Penney as principal actors is superb. There is a great deal of action, love and intrigue which make this a truly great story.I loved every minute of it. I feel that this tale, unfortunately, is to a certain degree, true to life.
Her Wicked Ways (1991)
Very enjoyable movie,real life intrigue,backstabbing & deceit.
I enjoyed this movie very much. Heather Locklear played the part of Melody Shepherd who was a beautiful (on the outside) but a nasty conniving deceitful bleep on the inside. Her endeavors to take over the position held by Tess O'Brien (played by Barbara Eden) as lead reporter in Washington are only temporarily successful. In the process she temporarily deceives Tess'es agent, son and supervisors .Tess'es boyfriend and her mother cannot be fooled however. Fortunately Tess catches her in the treachery acts once too often and leaves her blowing in the wind with no way out.Barbara Eden and Heather Locklear both play their parts extremely well.
Chattanooga Choo Choo (1984)
Great, Hilarious Movie For Fun loving Viewers, Great Cast
I enjoyed every minute of this. George Kennedy as Bert, a potential inheritor of his father's fortune was great. Barbara Eden as his fluzzy girl friend Maggie Jones was absolutely perfect and her handling of Bert, her overbearing, possessive, bumbling boyfriend was very believable Joe Namath, the football great, provided a love interest. The trip on an old train with the objective of making a required schedule and the intervening wide variety of shenanegans make this a really fun movie. Of course a little bathroom humor which is thrown in, might turn off a few straight laced people, but I found it funny because it was far from obscene. Overall, I found the acting of Barbara Eden, George Kennedy and Joe Namath excellent and hard to top.
Dead Man's Island (1996)
A Great Movie, Lots Of Suspense and Mystery, Great cast
A fine movie with a rather unusual plot. William Shatner who plays Chase Prescott , a man with a business empire is very well cast. Barbara Eden as his designated detective is excellent and very convincing. It seems that everyone on the island except Barbara Eden (Henri O) is suspected of trying to murder him. Many mysterious occurrences makes the viewer wonder what is going to happen next. Henri O (Barbara Eden) as the detective is also in great jeopardy. William Shatner and especially Barbara Eden are very convincing. As in all her movies Barbara is always in control and courageous.
Return of the Rebels (1981)
A Fine, Fun Movie, Great Plot, With Great Characters.
I enjoyed this movie very much. Briefly, it is about a gang of hoodlums that pester a small resort owner to the point of frustration. In short they have taken over the resort and driven out the better customers by making it dangerous and no fun. At this point she (Barbara Eden as Mary Beth Allen) contacts an old friend (Don Murray as Sonny Morgan). He summons up their old (over the hill) gang of motor cycle friends who then help rout out these jerks. Their antics in doing this are extremely funny and satisfy the viewers desire for revenge.
Again great plot, and a great cast.
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961)
Best Submarine Move Ever, Scientific Nonsense But Tremendous Fun
This is a movie about a state of the art submarine. Walter Pidgeon, Joan Fontaine, Robert Sterling, and especially Barbara Eden do a superb job of acting. It is also state of the art inasmuch as it has Barbara Eden (Lt. Cathy Connors) on board, Actually no woman ever served on board until 20 years later. The main themes are a trip to the North pole under the ice and that the radiation layer is on fire. Joan Fontaine plays the part of a meddlesome pschiatrist and Michael Ansara plays the part on a religious fanatic who independently helps Joan Fontaine in the meddling dept. Actually the meddling becmes more dangerous than the fire. Incidents with a rebellious crew, a giant octupus etc etc infinitum add fast action. Also there is a love affair between Lt. Cathy Connors (Barbara Eden) and Capt. Crane (Robert Sterling) which add love interest. Barbara Eden's acting (her fourth acting year) is execellent and in my estimation she up-staged Joan Fontaine. Altogether a fantastic fun movie even if it was scientific nonsense.
Your Mother Wears Combat Boots (1989)
A Funny Fun Mother and Son Movie , Very Very Enjoyable,
A great movie starring Barbara Eden and her real life son , Matthew Ansara. Barbara as Brenda Anderson, the overprotective mom tries to keep her son out of the airforce and wants him to go to college. But in the process everything goes astray and instead Brenda (Barbara Eden) winds up in the airforce. Things get very funny as she alienates everyone in sight by getting them on KP for her screwups. In one hilarious scene she appears on the battleground wearing short shorts because she misunderstood the term BDU (battle dress uniform) to mean BVD's ,which of course, she told her sergeant, she was no way going to wear. In the end she is forced to do a jump from the plane to set an example for her son and winds up encouraging him to stay in. I strongly suspect, from the reality of the scenes that they were done with the cooperation of the airforce. Barbara as usual makes everything hilarious with her antics. A great fun movie.
The Secret Life of Kathy McCormick (1988)
An extremely enjoyable movie with surprise endings.
In this great movie, Barbara Eden , as grocery clerk, Kathy McCormick, accidentally finds herself mixing with the very wealthy(hoi paloi) and is thus forced into pretending to be a stock broker with ability to handle and manipulate stocks. Along the way she finds a new boy friend , actor Josh Taylor. The boy friend takes advantage of her by pretending to have a very ill wife who is unable to take part in a marriage and so he is stuck with her. As a side plot the pretense of being a stock broker gets her into high society. At about the same time as she is found out, she finds out that the boyfriend has tricked her into giving up her virginity. Barbara Eden, as usual plays her role extremely well and is well supported by Josh Taylor as the conniving boyfriend. In total a very enjoyable movie.
All Hands on Deck (1961)
A Fast Moving Extremely Funny Enjoyable Movie,
The love affair between Pat Boone as Lieutenant Donald and Barbara Eden as Sally Hobson makes up the basic story line in this fun movie. Buddy Hacket or is it "hatchet" as Garfield acts as a crazy (and I do mean crazy) indian to add the comedy. The fast moving plot includes the antics of Garfield and a pet turkey which they are trying to hide from Lieutenant Donalds superiors. The main plot, the love affair and attempts to smuggle Sally Hobson on board with the ensuing coverup and confusion make for an extremely funny movie. Barbara Eden's excellant acting and Pat Boones singing and acting are prime ingredients in this very fine enjoyable production.
I Dream of Jeannie (1965)
The Greatest Sitcom Ever, Thee classic
I have enjoyed watching every episode of IDOJ several times. It was funny in the extreme. I can't imagine why Barbara Eden was only nominated for the Golden Globes award on this, she should have won. Her acting was flawless. For example her portrayal of a very different appearing and behaving sister was incredible. Her voice was not strident or high pitched. She appeared very genuine. The fun was in watching Jeannie use her powers to try to solve Major Nelson's problems only to have them get him into hot water. The mystery part was in how he could refuse to marry her for four years. Dr. and Amanda Bellows played the part of innocent but victimized bystanders just great. The last episode with the Chili was superbly funny. Why they ever cancelled this after only five years is beyond me. It should have gone on for another five years at least. This series, in my estimation will never be topped!!
How to Break Up a Happy Divorce (1976)
Hilarious, funny, true to life in a way.
Extremely funny movie about a jerk that doesn't know a good thing when has it. Midlife crisis causes husband Tony (Peter Bonerz) to start looking around for something better in life. Jennifer, a trouble maker catches him and leads him astray. When he divorces wife Ellen (Barbara Eden) Ellen decides she is going to get him back. And she has just the recipe. She trades on his inherent jealousy (he actually is still in love with her), She uses a new friend Tony (Hal Linden) to stir him up by checking into a hotel with Tony. Their ensuing antics and the antics of the many others in the cast are hilarious. Barbara Eden as Ellen is at her beautiful acting best and takes husband Tony in stride, bringing him to his knees. Barbara Eden, Hal Linden and Peter Bonerz make this an extremely funny movie.
Condominium (1980)
Great Suspenseful Movie
I saw this movie way back in the eighties and enjoyed it very much. A lot human interest. Not tacky. Just human beings living their lives to the best of their ability. Lots of action, suspense . And as I remember it was prophetic. It had a great cast, Barbara Eden, Steve Forest, Ralph Belamy etc. I sure wish they would run this one again or put it on video. Pat.
Visions of Murder (1993)
Suspensful, very different theme
This was a great, suspensful movie. Barbara Eden as Jesse Newman was very convincing. No ham acting or phony accents. In control. Great theme Wish they had run a longer series of these. Beats a lot of the series in which they have to tell you at the end what happened. When you watched this one there was no doubt. As always Barbara Eden was great.
The Confession (1964)
A REAL FUN MOVIE, VERY ENJOYABLE
In this , the basic plot, finding a treasure , is overshadowed by the Miracle, seemingly seen by Pia (Barbara Eden). The result of the miracle is the conversion of many town characters who have been stealing from the town. One of these is the mayor, played by Michael Ansara, Barbara Eden's real life husband. The superb acting by Barbara Eden is a high point in this movie. Also fine acting by Michael Ansara, Ginger Rogers, and Ray Milland.
