Constellation (2024)
Overblown claptrap
Good acting and production values are not enough to make something entertaining out of this extremely thin plot. It beats us over the head with repetition of the same events from slightly different perspectives, with cuts back and forth to make it "spooky". The producers must think we are stupid. They should just have filmed it in a straightforward manner as a single movie, not a series. By episode 6, I'm sure that every viewer is screaming "get on with it" as the producers continue to withhold any progress. I expect that the end of this overblown mess will inevitably be spooky but ultimately unsatisfying.
Me, Myself and I (2017)
Beyond Comedy
If this were just about a 14-year-old budding inventor who has to switch to a new school, it would be a good show about the awkward life of a teen. But by adding the scenes about two later periods in his life, raising his daughter after his divorce at 40 and reconnecting with a lost love after his retirement at 65, they have added poignancy that raises it to a level beyond mere comedy.
The only problem I have with it is that so far, the 40-year-old does not seem to have the same personality as the 14-year-old and the 65-year-old, and this seems to me to be the weakest part of the show. But we'll see.
