Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Made me Sleepy * 1 Spoiler Ahead *

If your going to see a scary movie don't see this. The whole crowd laughed through it, and I don't think it was because the movie was funny but how bad it was. When you have a demon that has eyes and a tongue that pops out in computer animation like when Jim Carrey wore the mask you know you've wasted six dollars. Well at least I did. The idea seemed fascinating Tim Burton directing a movie based on the short story 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. Then Christina Ricci was cast. I was definitely seeing this. However I was very disappointed. The Headless Horseman was not mysterious ( which I think he needed to be ). And he was controlled by someone so it becomes a who-done-it Scream like film. But there's so many twists I could n't understand a lot of things and even the people who liked it couldn't. Another problem with the movie is that there's so many characters and no development of any of them you don't feel bad when they lose their head or even care if they're being attacked. Which makes the movie lack suspense. The ending felt rushed. And Christina Ricci's character wasn't even needed ( yeah she was great with the little she had to work with ). Christina Ricci's onscreen stepmom's dialogue made me roll my eyes. And gore doesn't bother me but it's NOT funny. Especially when you keep using it. And Christopher Walken's costume and barking dialogue .... HAHAHA can we say cheesy.

Never Been Kissed (1999)

A Feel Good Movie - Drew's The Best !!!

I'm very surprised that so many people don't like this movie. I think it's a lot better than most of the teen films that have come out recently - Ten Things I Hate About You ( can we say teeny bopper film and what was with the principle writing those porno novels ? ), Cruel Intentions ( where a character gives up their virginity because of a fun car ride ), and She's All That ( mediocre ). If your looking for something that's just fun - I say go with Never Been Kissed. My mom loved it and she hates movies ( one of her favorites is BEACHES ). This is a great fantasy about what you would do different if you could go back to high school. People who were outcasts in high school will probably like this movie better. It reminds me of 'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion'. And the ending puts me in the best mood. Sure the plot has been done, but how many recent movies can you honestly say haven't been done in one form or another. The cast is also charming. And for those who think Drew can't be geeky - she pulls it off just great. Another good teen comedy that I recommend which was made recently is ELECTION but it's more of a satire on school and politics.

Poison Ivy (1992)

A movie that's more about loneliness than it is an erotic thriller

I really enjoyed the two main characters in the movie - Cooper ( played by Sara Gilbert ) and Ivy ( Drew Barrymore is brilliant in this character ). The film focuses on there friendship and feeling alone as a teenager. I really liked the dialogue between the characters. Especially when Ivy meets Cooper's mother ( played by Cheryl Ladd ) and talks about her own mother and how she flinched every time she touched her and how she died long before she really did. It's just great. Ivy's loneliness soon starts to evaporate as she gains a mother in Chery Ladd, a friend in Sara Gilbert, but then she sets her eyes on Cooper's father ( played by Tom Skerrit ) and wants him in an intimate way. And this is where the movie starts to get erotic as she seduces her best friend's father. But Cooper is starting to see Ivy's evil intentions .....

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

One Of The Best Films of The 90s - Sad and Beautiful

This is a wonderful modern day fairy tale about Edward ( Johnny Depp plays him great ) a creation with scissors for hands who has been isolated up on a dark mansion after his creator ( played by Vincent Price ) dies. When an Avon Lady ( played by Dianne Wiest ) stops by the mansion she finds Edward and brings him home hoping to give him a new life. He then falls in love with the Avon Lady's daughter Kim ( played wonderfully by Winona Ryder, and I heard Drew Barrymore was turned down for this role because she was just making her comeback. I think Drew would of been just as good. ) But Edward gets setup in a burglary and the town who once adored him turns on him. Some people think the ends violent but I liked it even though it was sad.

Halloween II (1981)

Scarier than the original

To me this was much scarier than the original. I feel there's more of a feeling of a relentless pursue of Jamie Lee Curtis's character. And that's what scared me, the way Michael Myers would not give up till she was dead and in this one you know the motive and that he's actually targeting for her. In the 1st one you just think he wants to kill some kids and Jamie's there so yeah he'll go for her too. But in the sequel it shows that this is why he's come to Haddenfield, to kill Jamie. And that freaks me out. Just thinking of someone who would not rest in till some one was dead and you can really feel the hopelessness of Jamie's Laurie Strode. If your going to get any of the other sequels I only suggest part 4 and the last one ( which really sucked that they didn't add John Carpenter's eerie theme. And even worse they replaced it with Scream's, don't get me wrong I loved Scream, but you don't put its music into a Halloween movie. )

The Kiss (1988)

Little Out There But Entertaining

This movie is about an evil enity passed down from generation to generation in an unfortunate family. It's an evil snake-like creature that controls the body ( if you've seen Jason Goes To Hell, it's similar to that ). The movie opens with two young sisters in Africa. One is leaving to Europe with her Aunt. During the ride, the Aunt passes the creature into her niece's body through a "kiss". 25 years later, the other sister has a husband and daughter named Amy ( Meredith Salenger from The Journey Of Natty Gan, and most recently Lake Placid ) who live in New York. The mother dies in an accident, and 5 months later the sister, Felice ( Joanna Pacula )shows up. Now Amy most protect herself before it's to late because Aunt Felice wants to give her a deadly kiss. It's better than it sounds. Meredith Salenger and Mimi Kuzyk ( she plays a friend of the family ) are very likeable in there roles and Joanna Pacula is good at being creepy. Favorite line : Amy : " I want some fritos, I want a f**kin' diet coke " ( after her Aunt has given her all this " healthy food " crap ).

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)

The Scariest Of The Friday The 13th Films

For me, Friday The 13th 2 was the scariest of the series. The pillow case over the confused killer was very creepy with that one eye looking out at you. The chase scenes were scary, you never knew when he was going to pop out. The original Friday was good too, don't get me wrong. I just find the first more of a thriller than a horror. The mother was a living person who talked and it was kind of psychological. She did not wear any mask. She really didn't pop out anywheres. Therefore, I didn't find it all that scary but rather suspenseful. As for the series that continued, I'm sorry but I don't find hockeymasks creepy, it kinda distracts from the horror. It's like oh no there's a demented hockey player after me. Sure they may be fun to watch, but they're not as scary as part 2 in my opinion.
