Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)
Not bad, but...
Don't get me wrong, I'm a hard core trekkie, but this film seemed to lack something, and even now, 8 months after seeing it, I'm still not sure what it is. I guess a lot of the comedy in the movie tended to work but the characters didn't seem to merge with the jokes (e.g the rumba scene with Picard). I'm sure that a lot of people liked it, and I like it too, but In my opinion, I think they could have improved the movie, to the point of Star Trek 4.
The Truman Show (1998)
The best that I've Ever Seen!
I'll admit. I happen to like Jim Carrey, and that was the main reason for me renting it out. But Now that I've seen it, I think it's one of the best Movies EVER!
I'm not going to talk about how good it was, or how well filmed it was. This film was an excellent chance for Jim Carrey to break out of the Typecast he put himself in, and quite frankly this was a chance he grabbed with enthusiasm.
Just one gripe, however. The scene with him walking out the door. I'm aware that this is supposed to be the climax of the film, and I loved it as it is, but I felt that "The Holy Grail" by Hunters and Collectors would have made this scene absolutely perfect. Why? The first verse says it all.
"Woke up this morning, from the strangest dream
I was in the biggest Army, the world had ever seen
We were marching as one, on the road, to the Holy Grail..."
The Adventures of Lano & Woodley (1997)
THE Funniest Show to hit the screens.
What can I say? I laughed so hard I nearly Puked I really did. This show gives people the chance to see how good Australian Comedy can be. The fact that the ABC happen to have this means 30 minutes of uninterrupted laughs. Go Lano and Woodley!
