The Haunting (1999)
I preferred the '63 version
5 April 2000
Just watched this version. It was good but I felt the original '63 version was best. Why? Maybe Black & White gave Hill House a morbid, dreary feel which added to the story? The house in the new film seemed almost silly. Was it computer generated or does this place exist in real life? It was too far overdone. The effects were good but the original had your imagination run wild and the bed scene where Nell realises she is holding hands with "something" rather than the other girl is quite unnerving!

Surprise Twist? No! Not At All
5 April 2000
I enjoyed the movie but found no twist or surprise to it at all. I usually like to see a movie twice. I pick it apart the first time (not in a bad way!)and enjoy the second viewing. I'm shunned by those watching mystery shows because I usually solve it in the first few minutes, so I learned to "shut-up"(I'm no Sherlock Homes, perhaps a keen observer?). I jotted down my idea of how 6th Sense would end and let my family read it after we enjoyed the show. Yes it was good but straight forward and if you pay attention at the start the rest falls into place. Wish they used a few more ghosts! I enjoyed the part about the "ill little girl"..well done.

The Haunting (1963)
Very Good & Scary
5 April 2000
For a '63 movie it was well done! Your imagination runs wild as you hear sounds and never get to "SEE" what is there in that house! The Black & White filming makes it very effective & eerie. The house is quite realistic as opposed to the '99 version. Elenor (Nell) is at her best when in bed listening to that horrible vocalization at her door...and something holding her hand!

A SCI-FI Classic! Great storyline & nifty effects for 1956
19 September 1999
I'm watching it on TV now as I type. I have seen this one a number of times and never tire of it. Obviously, a bit of research went into the movie especially in small details like the frequency used by Dr. Marvin to contact the aliens (225.6 Mc). The stop-action effects used to animate the saucers were used by many later SCI-FI movies. I once saw a "disclaimer" by the USAF after watching this movie years ago debunking UFO's. Why would this movie upset them?

Scared Me Silly when I was young
19 September 1999
A great comedy/horror movie! I first saw it while very young and had nightmares. I finally got to see it again a few years ago and think it is the greatest! Bob Hope's humour as "Larry Lawrence" is at its best. The leading lady and sidekick-man servant support characters really compliment the lead actor. The story line is funny and scary at the same time. I feel the special effects of the "ghost" were superb for the time it was filmed. It still sends chills down my spine & roll with laughter. You should note a young Anthony Quinn plays two characters.

The Campbells (1986–1990)
excellent show mixing Canadian history & fiction & great acting by all
20 August 1999
Reflects pre-confederation life in rural Ontario, Canada. I met an actress who was on one episode. She said it was like going back in time. She was a little flustered by a chicken that flew into her during the shooting! I hope it gets aired again soon. I missed the pilot/first episode and sure would like to see it!

Night Heat (1985–1989)
best police TV series since "Highway Patrol" of the '60's
20 August 1999
Guess I'm biased! It was a great Canadian series, shot in Toronto (my birthplace). Being from Toronto, the background scenery was very familiar and added to the realism. My wife and I enjoyed all the actors, although some were being re-cast as different guest villains, etc. a little too much. We especially like the "confrontations" between cops "Kevin & Frank" and "Whitey".
