Nu jing cha (1973)
DO NOT SEE THIS if you like Jackie Chan movies
This is one of those re-releases trying to cash in on Chan's fame. It has nothing to do with Rumble in the Bronx. It is a far cry from that excellent movie. It's about a female police officer. Chan plays the villain and he has an embarrassing mole on his cheek with hair growing out of it. It's only like his second film and he only in about 5 minutes. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE BOX ART! This is not a chan film! Rating 1/10
Fei lung mang jeung (1988)
One of Jackie Chan's best!
Any movie that brings Jackie Chan, Yuen Baio, and Sammo Hung together and is directed by Hung has got to be great! I loved this movie! Chan, Yuen, and Hung go all out in the stunts and action of this movie, and as an added bonus Chan fights Benny "The Jet" Urquidez at the end just like he did in Wheels on Meals. This movie has humor, action, romance and drama. There are very few movies I would rate above this one in Jackie's list of accomplishments. See it soon. You'll be glad you did! Rating 10/10
24 Hours to Midnight (1985)
bad acting, bad fights, veeeery little Cynthia
This movie originally came out in 1985. It was one of Cynthia's first roles. The re-release of this movie has Cynthia Rothrock as the headline star. Now, if it were true, then the movie would have been better, but you only see about 3 minutes of her in the whole movie. She is suppose to be the ninja who gains revenge on the drug lord and his henchmen for killing her husband. You see her in the very beginning and then through a series of flashbacks to the beginning scenes, but the the ninja is NOT her. They used some double and kept her face covered for the whole movie. I felt I was watching Game of Death. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone! Rating 1/10
American Tigers (1996)
Nice Cynthia Rothrock cameo...The End
I watched this whole movie, but I'm not sure why! The idea is that an army sargeant can whip a bunch of convicts into shape and send them on a likely suicide mission to take out some terrorists on a boat. Cynthia makes an appearance as herself and teaches the convicts how to fight. That was the best part and it only lasted about 5 minutes. The boat exploded at the end of the movie and the simulated computer generated explosion was so pathetic I was embarrassed! Please watch this only as a last resort! Rating 2/10
Mission of Justice (1992)
An adequate film, but the prequels were better
Jeff Wincott plays a cop who infiltrates the "Mission" to see what is really going on. From the outside it looks like a peace keeping group of martial arts trained civilians, but Brigette Nielson has other agendas. Wincott does a respectable job in this movie, but as it is called Mission of Justice:Martial Law III, I expected more. The previous two movies featured Cynthia Rothrock and it almost seemed like they threw in Neilson as a replacement gratuitous blonde. If Cynthia had been in this one it would get higher marks, but without her I give it 6/10 rating. It's probably worth seeing once, but don't expect it to WOW you twice!
Bloodmatch (1991)
This movie did not meet its potential:(
With Benny "The Jet" Urquidez filming the fight scenes and playing a part in the movie, I expected more. I've seen him do some great things in other films, but this one left me wondering. It's a revenge film filled with great martial artists, but it sure didn't turn out to be a great film. Very few of the actors/actresses could actually act and the fighting left a lot to be desired. There were a few good fight scenes, but overall this strange, low-budget effort fell short. See it only if you can't sleep. Rating 5/10
Zhi fa xian feng (1986)
Righting Wrongs can do no wrong!
I loved this movie! Yuen Biao, who attended Chinese Opera school with Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, totally rules this movie! He has incredible martial arts skills and uses them to the max in this action-packed movie. Yeah, sure the plot and acting leave a bit to be desired, but for us martial arts fans we've come to accept the sub-standard acting in lieu of the awesome action sequences. Cynthia Rothrock adds an extra dimension to the film with her excellent fighting abilities. She is certainly able to keep up with Yuen's antics and from what I've heard, she really enjoyed making this film, (one of her earliest). I definitely encourage people to see this one for the action alone. Rating 8.5/10
