Belly (1998)
Belly, in my opinion was a hip, good film and there should be more like it
I was shocked by this film actually. I went into it thinking it was going to be utter trash, but i was shocked to find it actually had cinematic worth. While the plotline wasnt exactly amazing, it was better then most of the film plots out there today, and the acting was well done. Even I was skeptical , (because most times when music stars crossover to be film stars it doesnt exactly work,) in this case it did work. And the plot did have some good points although it got draggy and the ending was rushed. However the cinematography was amazing, and while i wouldnt go as far to say it was an artisitc and technoligical breakthrough, it was amazing to watch. The dialogue and the script itself was true to the entire message and point of the movie, and I'm extremely sad that this good movie got trashed by overly pretentious people who sometimes cant value something for what it is.
Backsliding (1992)
Little seen australian film, with a wannabee exploitation feel to it
This little seen Australian film was one of the first efforts by extraordinary actor , Tim Roth. Whilst the movie itself is cheaply and inexpensively done, (and the plot and script had little or no value,) Tim Roth proves that he can turn even the worst movie around by his performance. The movie itself a 'twisted' story of a married couple living in the middle of nowhere on a gas line range, bring an extra employee into there home, and where they work. Soon the husband, Jack begins to 'Backslide' and the rest, well it sorta takes on a cheap slasher-esque fell to it, although 'backsliding' from christianity is an odd choice for a storyline. Although the high point of the film is Tim Roth, and a goat, trapped in a box. In all this film is a rare treat for Tim Roth fans, and Australian exploitation films.
Santa Sangre (1989)
Overated, and hard to sit through, and not because it was scary
How can ANYONE say that this film, Sante Sangre is good? HOW? its trashy, corny, cliched, and downright stupid! Its trying overly hard, trying to create 'haunting' images, and trying to strike terror into the viewer. The only scary part that struck me was that i wasted 3 bucks to see this cheap wannabee shocking film. The plot was totally out there but not in a good, artistic way, and it was downright corny, and trying WAY too hard, and is made worse by the fact that people positively responded to such utter garbage! I have yet to check out the other films of Jadorwosky, but I hope they're not as bad.
