Stalker Guilt Syndrome (2002)
The other guy missed the point
This short obviously wasn't intended to be realistic- it's a comedy why else cast a comedian, Marc Maron, as the lead, especially one who plays to his neurosis? For a short this was pretty funny and at 11 minutes I would recommend it.
Captive Audience (1999)
A great low-budget movie with surprising depth
I saw this film at the Wood Hole Film Festival in Woods Hole, MA. This movie was so low that the directors/stars/writers had a question and answer period afterward. Despite this, the film, about a late night radio shock jock taken hostage is surprisingly well done. The premise may sound like the movie "Airheads" but they're about as alike as Pauly Shore's "In the Army Now" and oh say, "Apocalypse Now." In addition there is a surprise twist handled just as well as the rest of the movie. The writers, who worked formerly at WFNX in Boston, manage to add some good classic rock in-jokes too.
Homicide (1991)
Great setup, disappointing ending.
David Mamet wrote a great setup to Homicide, but in the end he added a conclusion that didn't seem to fit with the tone of the film at all. Most of the film concentrates on Gold's internal struggle with his police work as a backdrop. The standard action movie ending with supposed twist invalidates the rest of the film.
