Stark Raving Mad (1999–2000)
One of the best!
9 January 2000
I absolutely LOVE this show! It's one of the best shows in the line up since the first seasons of Friends. Neil Patrick Harris and Tony Shalhoub are perfect foils... one neurotic and fresh, the other free and seasoned. Jake is fantastic, injecting the innocent, almost senseless humorous comments that draw a laugh almost every time. The execution of the humor is fresh also, delivered in such a way that we should see it coming but don't. With some time, this series could make a lot of people split their sides laughing. The chemistry among the cast is evident and wonderful... I can't wait to see more!

The Jackal (1997)

Great!

This movie was quite intriguing. While not Bruce Willis' best film, and while I'm not fond of Richard Gere, I really enjoyed it. I have one word that makes this film worth it... LaMont. That guy was hilarious! And when the Jackyl offed him. Hey, it doesn't get any better than that. It had everything, cool weapons, neat characters and a twist here and there. If you like Bruce Willis and I do, then give this movie a shot, if for nothing else just see it for Bruce. This was one of the cooler characters that he's played.

Awesome!

I just saw The Phantom Menace today and when the classic 20th Century Fox music started I had flashbacks of 1977 when the original Star Wars came out. My dad took me to see it in a drive-in theater when I was four years old. I loved it and still love it. Episode One fits right in. When the synopsis of what's been happening in the galaxy scrolls at the beginning, anyone who's seen the other movies can't help but feel right at home. From the time it starts to the time it ends, it's Star Wars through and through.

This movie has all the classic George Lucas ingredients... speed, deep characters and a whole lot of intrigue. The Force is as strong as ever and it's mentioned and built on a lot. The casting choices are fantastic. Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi is perfect. He has the same sort of nasal English speech that Sir Alec Guinness has. And the sword play is awesome. I couldn't get enough of it! I can't wait to see Episode II

Titanic (1997)

Fantastic!
6 April 1999
I admit, I only wanted to see the ship when I first heard that this movie was coming out. When I actually went and saw it, I was so impressed with absolutely everything. I've been fascinated with the Titanic for years and often wondered what it would have been like to be there. Not for the sinking but to be on the ship. This movie brought me as close to that feeling as I think I'll ever get. Now I know what it would have been like.

I'm also impressed at the historical accuracy of the film. It's definitely a tribute to those who perished and the survivors.

For anyone who is passing judgement on the film before they see it because Leonardo DiCaprio is in it should get over it and see the film. If you like the Titanic, it's worth it.

My favorite movie of all time!
1 April 1999
A friend and I rented this film one day almost by accident. We knew the two actors on the sleeve, Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr., and we'd already seen Jeff Goldblum in another classic film, "The Fly" and we thought "okay, he was great in that film, let's try this one." I think we watched it six or seven times before we had to return it. My wife doesn't like it at all but one year for my birthday, she went all over town to find a copy for me. It's a very rare find.

I found this to be a hilarious film and it's become my absolute favorite movie of all time. Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. are perfect foils for each other; one calm and sensible the other stressed and neurotic. John Byner was a nice surprise since I hadn't seen him since "Bizzare". He is so funny in this film, especially when he's trying to chloroform Hunyadi, the Frankenstein look alike. I almost fell out of my chair.

I think that viewers that have seen and perhaps anyone who hasn't seen this film should rent it again and give it another try. It may be worth the 90 minute investment.

Clue (1985)

Excellent!
1 April 1999
At first I wasn't sure how a movie could be made about a game that is so random. How do you tackle the problem of having several different possible endings for the film. The film makers certainly solved that problem by having the three different endings.

I enjoyed this film because of its intricacies, all the nooks and crannies that you can find. Also, after I'd seen it a few times, I decided that I would love to have a house built that is exactly like the one in the film.

I found the performances to be entirely convincing. The casting was a triumph in itself. I can't say which is my favorite character simply because I like them all at different times. Michael McKean as Mr. Green is my favorite when he's taking the cop for a tour of the house. Tim Curry as Wadsworth is my favorite when he's revealing who did it and how. Each character has his or her own best moment on the screen that makes them memorable.

One of the things that I took out of this film when I saw it was the names of the actors. I wanted to find other films that these particular actors had done. I followed most of them as well. I believe that Christopher Lloyd had another triumphant movie in the same year and that was "Back to the Future". Professor Plum could not have been played by another actor and had the same success.

This is one of my favorite comedy films and I still enjoy watching it. For me its timeless.
