Sunshine (1999)
Sors=Destiny
You might be interested to know that "sors" in Hungarian means "fate" or "destiny". And of course "Sonnenschein" in German means "sunshine". It appears that I must include at least four lines, so let me just add that I found the movie fascinating, though harrowing. I will never take a shower in a cold house without thinking of the scene at the tree...
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Did I see a different movie??
Judging by the last set of comments I saw, and the high ranking this movie got from other viewers, I am starting to think that I saw a different movie from the rest of you. The only thing good I think to say about this movie is that if you have an incurable illness you should see it because it will make what little time you have left on earth seem to go by much more slowly.
Gorod Zero (1988)
A bizarre view into Soviet reality
I saw this film while living in Moscow in the late 80s/early 90s and it truly summarizes a lot of the bizarreness of day-to-day Soviet life. The engineer visits this small provincial town where nothing is normal and he encounters all sorts of weird people. It's a very absurd story, but if you understand the way the old USSR worked, it makes a strange sort of sense.
Turk 182 (1985)
Not that anyone cares, but...
...the directors of this film hired the Columbia University marching band (or several members of it, anyway, including myself) to be the band for the scene at the Queensborough Bridge. Despite having been in the movie, I only watched it for the first time last night, and did it ever stink! We were definitely the highlight of the movie, despite being made to wear those stupid polyester red bandanas to make our official blue and white uniforms more colorful. It was torture to have to wait for our scene, near the end of the movie. What were they thinking when they wrote this dog?? I'm almost glad they didn't bother to credit us...
