Meet Joe Black (1998)
If there is any film that shows the brilliance of Brad Pitt, this is it.
This movie is so bittersweet, that it moves me every time. What gets me even more than the simpleness of this story, is the incredible performance of Brad Pitt. Is ability to transform from an ordinary (pardon the expression)joe, to death is an amazing feat. His ability to find joy in the little things he doesn't know as death, such as peanut butter, intrigued me to no end. It was such an experience to watch him portray death as such an innocent, that it literally took my breath away. Not to take away from Anthony Hopkins, who, as always, gave an amazing performance. If you are willing to take 3 hours, and believe me, it feels like maybe 1 hour, to watch this movie, it would be worth your time. Every moment was exquisite. A movie worth many Oscars, had it only been given a different year.
The Brothers McMullen (1995)
Edward Burns' genius shines through.
I don't have much to say of this amazing film, except that it is an example how years from now, when Edward Burns receives life time achievement awards for all of his many talents, the people who were smart enough to see this film will be able to tell their children of how they could see this day coming from decades away. His ability to take three men and tell their story brilliantly without ever straying from something realistic, and still getting his happy ending, is surreal. He is an amazement and inspiration for all young film makers.
The Usual Suspects (1995)
who is kaiser souze?
Though I am not a film critic, or an expert on the matter, this film is probably the best of all time. Its impossible plot twists, and likable bad guys seem to make the movie fly buy. the suspense drama turns into an unlikely comedy with the on liners of smart aleck crooks. Kevin Spacey, Roger "Verbal" Kent, delivered an amazing oscar winning performance. This movie keeps you guessing till the end, and surprising yourself every time that you see it. Usual Suspects won me over, and I guarantee, it will do the same for you.
