Ronin (1998)
Only for hard core DeNiro fans
A dull boring movie. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen. The best part was when the bad guys left the hotel with the mysterious silver ice skate case, handcuffed to a bald mean looking guy in sunglasses, in a black car being followed by other mean looking guys in 3 identical black cars. It was a pretty obvious exit for hired guns who were transporting **uranium? drugs? secret messages? recipes? ...ice skates** We never did find out what was in the case.
The car chase was downright silly and never ending. I managed to slip in 40 winks and it was still going on when I woke up. I went out to get a drink of water and they were still hurtling through the same tunnel the wrong way.
All I want to know is what was the point of it all.
The Mask of Zorro (1998)
Adventure, comedy, highly recommended!!
I was pleased, delighted, and transported back to being a kid again! This version of Zorro was funny, adventurous, heroic and just plain good. I used to love to watch the old black and white Zorro on Saturday mornings, and this made me feel like a kid again. I rented the video of the Mask of Zorro with no expectations, especially after some of the recent terrible remakes of old favorites. It was such a pleasure because it wasn't full of blood, cursing or innappropriate nudity, or boring special effects. It had a story and was just good clean fun and I recommend it highly. Antonio Banderas was fun and gorgeous, Anthony Hopkins was his usual debonair self, the girl was no shrinking violet and the bad guys were very interestingly bad.
The Education of Little Tree (1997)
Highly recommended, 4 thumbs way up
It is too bad that movies like this are not more widely publicized and seen. This movie has far more redeeming qualities and is better for the soul and heart than any blood and gore action packed swear and nudity fest flick. I would even go one better and recommend the book, because although the movie is fairly true the book has alot more that cannot be covered in a 2 hr movie.
The actors are very good, Graeme Green is wonderful as always.
This movie should be nominated for an Oscar, but of course it won't because stories about Native Americans are not nominated, or seen by the movie going public.
Blue Velvet (1986)
gross, horrible, the worst
There isn't much more to say. This movie is the sickest, grossest and most disgusting perversion, like anything else Dennis Hopper has ever done. Isabella Rosselini should have thought twice about appearing in this dog.
