Escape from Sobibor (1987)
Breath taking Portrayal
Seeing "Escape From Sobibor" for the first time in Ten years gave me a new insight.First let me say that I have relatives who survived Death Camps,so I cannot watch it and distance myself emotionally as many can.
After seeing "Schindler's List",and real Death Camp footage,I almost forgot about this movie.I was taken by the slow but even pace of the film,it really built you up to the ending. The acting from everyone is excellent, and the suspense has you clinging to your seat.
I would like to see a modern re-make made.Keep in mind when you watch this movie that the atrocities shown, are only a small fraction of what really happened.I'm not saying that it isn't complete enough,it's just that you can't fit everything in a 2 hour movie.
Class of 1984 (1982)
Compelling movie
I have enjoyed this movie a bunch of times now, very good film, very believable.Timothy VanPatten looks a little too "Hollywood" in the picture.Roddy McDowall gives a superb performance as a biology teacher fighting alcoholism and Perry King is excellent too.
In God We Tru$t (1980)
Decent movie
A pretty good film, slow moving. Andy Kaufman steals the show as: Armageddon T Thunderbird a Televangelist.Andy Kaufman rehearsed for this role in London's "Hyde Park" and in New York City.
Fridays (1980)
Decent show
I've watched numerous episodes,it was ok,very 80's. Remember when Pac-Man first came out? Fridays will take you back. Many consider it as the bridesmaid to Saturday Night Live.
Andy Kaufman was the shows most outrageous guest. He broke character live and got in a brawl with the other castmembers. His next appearance he was unshaven and crying for his behavior the previous week. His next appearance he was a converted Christian gospel singer preaching the good word.
I'm from Hollywood (1989)
Great Film
This film makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it.This is the one that turned me into a life long fan of Andy's work.To imagine a HOLLYWOOD comic,(even though he didn't see himself that way)would go into wrestling and take it to a "higher level" with an element of comedy as the twist,is too unbelievable.
There is also brief clips of Kaufman playing the bongos, and impersonating Tony Clifton, the self absorbed lounge singer. With great comments by Henner and Robin Williams about Andy being so bizarre and taking his wrestling so serious.
It sent me into a frenzy looking for more Kaufman material, I would love to have more of the wrestling footage than is shown on the videotape.
