Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)
Extremely good animation, but...
I think that, not having played the video games, I am missing a LOT of
the "background" information. For example, I had no idea of the
interpersonal relationships, or some of the things that had gone on
with the heroine previously. Things that were mentioned in the movie,
but that we didn't see happen. Now, I realize that they can't tell us
the whole life story of a character from birth to death in a 90 minute
film, especially an ANIMATED film like this. However I wish they'd
spent a little more time giving us the background info.
I don't think it would have killed them or added that much more time
to give us a few "flashbacks" of some of the "important" background
details. I really did feel kinda lost there. I got the impression that
a lot of this stuff was covered in the video games.
Entrapment (1999)
Good thriller movie!
I found this to be a very exciting movie and a good forum for Ms. Zeta-Jones to display her combination of sex appeal and acting ability. Also, Sean Connery shows that he's still got what it takes to wow the viewer!
This movie has something for just about everyone. If you like romance, you'll find a bit of that in here. If you like action and thrills, you'll DEFINITELY find some of that here! Finally, if you like mystery and plot twists, then this is DEFINITELY a movie for you!
Without giving away the movie, let me just say that the plot twists in the last 15-20 minutes of this movie will blow your mind!
A Kid in King Arthur's Court (1995)
Good adaptation of Mark Twain's story
I just finished watching this as a Sunday night Disney movie on TV. I found this to be a pretty faithful to the IDEA of Mark Twain's original story. Granted it didn't even TRY to follow the original plot, however I don't think that was ever the intention.
Taking it as a new work, based on the theme of the original, and not as an adaptation of the original, I think this was well done, and the identity of the black knight SHOULD have been obvious, but it took me by complete surprise.
Kate Winslet does a very good job as the Princess, and Patrick Macnee does an excellent job as Merlin.
All in all a very enjoyable FAMILY movie with no bloody violence and not a single bad word that I can recall.
Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)
This movie ROCKS!!!
Trek Fans, REJOICE!!! The latest incarnation of the Star Trek saga has arrived, and its name is INSURRECTION!
The effects in this movie are spectacular, and the story line is good as well!
The "twist" comes about 2/3 of the way through the movie (no, I won't spoil it here! <G>) Just remember that it has to do with the identity of the villains in this movie! :)
So, go and enjoy this movie! This is one I intend to purchase when it comes out on video!!!
