Jungles on Mexico's Northern Border?
4 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Repeating....jungles on Mexico's Northern Border? A border wall ten times the height of China's great wall? The octopus/squid/lava-light nemesis with a pupae/river/sea/land life cycle is a decent creation but with a title like "Monsters" I expected more interaction between earthlings and beasts from outer space than that.

Aspect Ratio
9 February 2008
The DVD release is in 1:85.1 Letterbox but in actuality the movie was shot 1:33.1 Full Screen. How do I know?..............the director told me so. All the past cable broadcasts were in the original full screen format. If you own the retail DVD you need only compare it to your retail VHS or a broadcast saved to VHS.

Don't get me wrong, I love the movie as indicated by my rating above but when the studios LTBX the original they are taking away, not adding and are in a sense re-directing the film. All movies should be released in the master ratio and if the viewer wants it to fit their TV screen it can be done with the remote.

I expected much more than a commercial.
22 December 2005
I was expecting a documentary covering the 1950 to 1965 era of Sci-Fi and received a big ol' commercial laced with leftist political innuendo by James Cameron and movie mogul baby boomer's pushing the own works. 'Watch the Skies' has in the past referred to the 'Giant Bug' and 'Space Exploration' movies from the 1950's including such favorites as "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, "Thing from Another World" and "Forbidden Planet" as well as "Them", "Deadly Mantis" and "Tarantula". There are lower budget examples that rarely get mentioned like "Space Monster", "12 to the Moon" and "Cosmic Man".

This would have been a much better documentary had the few remaining actors, directors, stunt men and collectors plus the non-Hollywood 'boomer's from the era been interviewed. I only wish there was a "0" rating available since a "1" is much to generous.

Another well done made for TV movie.
18 December 2005
An accurate portrayal of the events aboard the Italian cruise ship, Achille Lauro. Karl Malden accurately portrays the helpless victim of terrorist thugs. Most accurate of all is the brutality of the terrorists killing an unarmed man in a wheel chair and then throwing him overboard as witnessed by one of the ships porters. Leon Klinghoffer's defiance is conveyed very well by Karl Malden and seems to accurately reflect the actual events. Lee Grant is wonderful as the victims wife agonizing over the whereabouts of her husband. Her walking in front of the captured terrorists at the end probably is an accurate portrayal of the real Marilyn Klinghoffer's response to her loss.

Singing

I was pleasantly surprised at what a good singer Miss Ringwald is. She is still just as cute as ever. Nice job Molly!
