Killing Zoe (1993)
KILLING ZOE: not your usual trendy pap
Much hated by Tarantino-lovin' geeks who often haven't even bothered to see it, KILLING ZOE is a nasty and hilarious gem, lacking much of Quentin's trademark video clerk snottines n' know-it-all nerdy attitude. Combining elements of old French noir flicks with a true nihilistic slant, Avary's flick is a true avant-pop classic.
Baba Yaga (1973)
Psychedelic flick sure to please retro-fans and everyone looking for offbeat, overlooked classics
Lounge revival fans and obscuro movie freaks should definitely take a look at this gem. (Very) loosely based on the erotic graphic novels by Italy's own Guido Crepax, BABA YAGA is a "giallo" movie on acid. Call it Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA on peyote. Kinky, weird, and sometimes just plain funny: miss it at your own risk. Oh, and dig the killer soundtrack, too!
...hanno cambiato faccia (1971)
Cool-as-hell parable on evils of capitalism
Vampires are the real BAD guys (i.e. corporate honchos feeding on much more than blood) in this satirical, quirky outing. Visually stunning, with a main character who goes by the name of Giovanni Nosferatu... not to forget an army of white, man-eating utility cars from hell (just forget wimpy, musty ole bats!)... I mean, how can you go wrong?
