Some good chuckles, a comedian to follow.
deloudelouvain22 April 2020
One stand-up comedy per day, that's what I've been watching now for weeks in a row. Most of the time unknown or at least completely new to me comedians so it's always nice to discover new names that make me have a good time. Nate Bargatze is one of those. He isn't very energetic on stage, he's more the casual guy telling some funny stories, but his nonchalance is what makes it even more funny. To me it's a good approach to tell jokes, it all looks like these things happen to him all the time. Nate Bargatze is a comedian I will follow, I don't think you can really go wrong with one of his shows if you're looking for some easy entertainment and good laughs.

Seems Like an Original and a Humble Comedian
shinedowness6 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This guy seems like an original and a humble comedian. Some people are overly sexual, some people are overly sentimental, and some people are overly predictable in their comedy shows to me. But, Nate seems to have a chill personality without sounding like a know it all from what I have seen from him.

A Rising Comedic Star

I stumbled across this title while looking for something to watch on Netflix. At the time, I had no idea who Nate Bargatze was, but as a causal fan of stand-up comedy, I watched. I was not disappointed. Like many of the successful modern comics, he tells stories, and he does it very well. His delivery and timing are exceptional. This is one of the few titles on Netflix I have watched multiple times.

Spectacularly Good

Don't think of this guy as 'a clean comedian'. No qualifiers are needed - he's simply a brilliant, brilliant comedian and this special is absolutely perfect. I've watched hours of stand up specials - and I have been eagerly waiting for this one. His albums are great and I loved his half hour on Netflix but I was really needing to see a full hour and it didn't not disappoint in the least. And do not bail out as soon as he says goodnight because you'll want to enjoy a few pictures that display during the closing credits.

Incredible

I rarely ever do any kind of review but I had to write one after watching this. I've watched almost every stand-up special under the sun, and never have I legitimately cried laughing while watching alone. A comedic masterpiece that everyone needs to watch. Plus, this special is family friendly throughout, making it highly enjoyable for all ages.

* I would highly recommend watching his 30 minute mini-special featured on episode 1 of season 1 of "The Standups" on Netflix prior to watching this special.

"I thought I was proof of my birth."

Warning: Spoilers
I like this guy. This is the second comedy special I've seen with Nate Bargatze, and it amazes me that he can riff for a full hour and not resort to profanity like so many present day comedians do. I mean even Gaffigan and Seinfeld manage to throw one in every now and then. This time out, Nate treats us with observations on dead horses, putting down a pet dog, milk with ice and Starbucks. He also expounds a little about growing up with a Dad who's a professional magician. His conversational style almost approaches deadpan, and is family friendly enough for all to enjoy. I'll be on the lookout for more of his routines.

Hilarious! On his way up.
darrel07615 December 2020
One of the best specials I've seen in a long time. Nate has a different way of telling jokes, which sets some aside from the most seasoned of comedians. His style is simply hilarious. He could read The Bible and it would be funny. This is one of many , many more specials to come from Nate,

Good but I wasn't dying

One of those stand-ups that makes you feel good, but you'll only get a few real laughs. Beyond that I just found myself smiling at it the whole time. Definitely worth seeing though!

He did it, he swayed me into standup! I love Nate and his jokes. Very realistic and not too political, just simply enjoyable! I have watched it twice in a few days and I highly recommend!

Surely worth a shot.

Surely worth a shot. Not the ROFL kinda standup, but if you like dry humor, this is almost a constant chuckle throughout the hour. Will be following this guy and will be watching his other content.

If you only watch one comedy special...
peteh-012397 April 2019
Nate's deadpan delivery, interspersed with the occasional chuckle is spot on. The storytelling is incredibly well done. An extremely strong effort and worth watching more than once.

Painfully unfunny
truebatmantd22 January 2024
If you are looking to watch something that's actually funny and make you laugh, just skip this one. Ignore all those 10/10 reviews most of them were obviously paid reviews and posted for marketing purposes.

There is nothing funny in this show and most of it is actually so cringey that you might feel it in your stomach. He spends 10 minutes talking about his struggles with ordering coffee at Starbucks and none of it is anywhere close to funny. It's just one cringey joke after another. He orders something, they give him something else, he goes to another Starbucks and they give him the wrong stuff again and so on and on.

If you think this is funny, I don't know what else you find funny. Most of this guy's joke fall somewhere between flat and cringey.

Funny and relatable
matthewssilverhammer19 October 2020
Bargatze's jokes are good, but what makes his comedy work is him. With a conversational delivery, his relatability is his unabated strength. Being a not-super-masculine man from the south myself, that relatability is all the more enticing.

Never Knew Who He Was
helenahandbasket-9373426 January 2021
But The Rona has us all watching stuff we'd gloss right over normally, so figured I'd give him a shot.

It's worth noting, his horse bit? Completely relatable. I consider myself fairly intelligent, and I recall being told a few times that horses and cows do not lie down unless they're ill, so one day driving past a field, I see a horse on its side and immediately thought 'NOMG that's so sad! I should let the farmer know...' so I make my way to the farm house, for which I was sized up and down, then told 'are you effing re****ed? How do you sleep? Lying down? Well, that's how our horses sleep. Thanks.' So I definitely related. Maybe a little too much.

Funny guy; relatable, good delivery style, but my only complaint would be, we get it, you procreated. We don't need to see your kid doing your intro.

Holy Moly! This guy is funny!
ron-2624116 March 2023
My wife and I had not heard of Nick, but saw a clip from his show on Netflix. Decided to give him a try and oh my goodness this was one of the funniest comics ever. By the time we got to the end we had to pause the show because we were crying laughing and my sides hurt from laughing so hard. First thing we did following the show was look up more specials with him. We would love to see this guy live. It's unbelievable to me this guy is not more popular. I'm sure that is about to change, this Nick is too funny to be kept out of the mainstream for very much longer. I literally cannot drive past a Starbucks without laughing now. The world needs more Nick!!!

Not funny. Monotone
mark-184-62232029 May 2022
Didn't make me laugh much as all. Quit watching in the middle because he's not funny enough. No energy. Monotone. Was making me fall asleep. Quite shocked that this person got a TV special. There has to be someone better out there, who deserved to get the special Nate got. He's definitely not Jeff Foxworthy.

Nothing memorable, but quite funny
JurijFedorov2 November 2023
Clean comedian and the jokes are funny. The short stories are engaging. They are very short though and he jumps from story to story instead of telling a long tale. He takes small events from his own life and then spins them into silly jokes where he's the silly one in all situations not really getting the world. He's misunderstanding stuff and seeing silly stuff happen around him.

I watched it because I watched his SNL Washington skit and it's some of the funniest stuff I have seen on SNL. The deadpan expression is what makes it funny. The humor is always subdued and he never really tackles any societal issues. Which does make it a tad barebones and dry in some parts as there are minutes of jokes just about ordering a cup of coffee. So it's not top tier stuff, but very much recommended as it's supposed to be funny and is so what more do you want? Not must-watch, but very much recommended for fans of comedy.
